Well I am going to let him play around on iTunes listening to samples and crap. If he thinks he is going to jump on and download a crapload of shiatty hip hop songs he is sadly mistaken. I may let him dowload 5 a month or something IF he performs manual labor around the house.

I am just not sure how to do it so that he and his pals can't go in and download $100 worth of junk. I did see something about an "allowance". I just have to figure it all out.

Girl set up her ipod program on the computer(following the instructions)....downloaded frostwire from fostwire.com and downloads music she wants into a folder

She dumps the music into the itunes folder from there, hit the convert button and automatically convert mp3's to itunes and dumps them onto her ipod....there is no fee for this

Itunes can lick a perspiration covered semi-spherical body protuberance. Two of them even....Honestly, at least on a PC. Intuitive my happy A##>

I'm a fairly technical person, Ive built and maintained my own computers, have built a pretty decent home theater system, programmed countless universal remotes, wired my whole house with phone and coax, added a whole house video distribution system. Itunes is a horrible interface. Especially for multiple Ipods. Maybe its just me, but I find Itunes to be a nightmare.

You sound like a good person to hit up on this thought. This is my problem with this whole download, pay to play mess. I view it like this, if I go buy a music CD, I have as pure a copy of the music as I can essentially get. Sure, I can import it down to the Ipod or other devices, which reduces the sound quality when doing so, but I still have a pure copy by virtue of owning the CD. Buying these compressed songs on Itunes however strikes me a listening to your music out of a clock radio instead of getting a true audiophile experience like you do with the CD.

Any merit to this argument? I swear, I can hear the difference listening to these compressed songs versus a CD on a quality sound system. And yes, I know CD's are compressed.

I use a zune device but always save my music from CD's while in Linux or Windows media player so that the music remains open to anyone or any device. I also try to download MP3 versions of music whenever possible if using the Zune site so other devices can use them. I will also use Amazon.com Mp3 downloads as well.

I have my library backed up on a portable drive and can play on my Xbox 360 or PS3.

OK so there is iTunes, Zune and Rhapsody. I know Rhapsody works with my cell phone, wonder if Zune does? Far as I can tell iTunes is limited to only working with an iPod or a iPhone, is that correct?
You're correct.

It's not that hard once you get used to it.
