My son started showering and deodorizing voluntarily when he was around 15 or so. Prior to that...ugh. That's around the time he also started wearing pants that fit him and collar shirts instead of WWF t-shirts.

I shower and use deodorant, but I rarely brush my teeth. I guess that's bad, but it's the truth.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you, 4d2008, I used to be the exact same way; I insisted with my mother that Axe was deodorant, but in reality it was simply cheap cologne, and merely calling it cheap cologne was being nice.

Glad to see that there may be an end near - mylittle dude is only 10 but I have to ask him no less than 3 times a morning, "Did you brush your teeth? Put on deodorant?" It should be drilled into his head roll out of bed and into the bathroom.

I gave birth to exact opposites. The oldest has OCD and washes continually. The baby... well let's just say that the west wing of my house smells like 17 cans of Axe exploded at all times.

Kids don't need deoderant until they reach puberty. 10 is too young to be sweating that, and stressing out over it might make him  later on.

Needing nagging for tooth brushing is normal.

In My Opinion
And skillet girl is just to opposite.
5 changes of clothes a day
2.5 hours in the shower/bathroom to ensure she is clean and every frigging strand of hair is in the right place and properly straightened.

then, she slings the towl on the floor, leaves the sink looking like a bird bath with all the water spray around and disappears into her room for another hour to figure out what to wear the next day.

I think boys are just plain gross. I am battling with my 7 year old. I finally layed the rules. The day you don't take a shower and brush your teeth then, he must not question when we(hubby and I) tell him no TV, DS, play with friends, movies.

The 16 year old has gotten a lot better. Showers every day during the week - weekends depend on his plans. Good with his hair - those curls are his crowning glory. Just now getting better about brushing teeth. I told him no amount of gum can take the place of brushing his teeth. Besides his girlfriends need to be impressed.

The 13 year old thinks Axe and deodorant are interchangeable. Showers alot. Does not read bottles and sometimes uses body wash on his head. He'll get there.

Incidentally folks grunge is back in. And the skater deal. Even if they shower they'll put on dirty clothes.

I forgot the worst part...... He goes to his Dad's on the weekend and comes back wearing the same clothes on Sunday that he left in on Thursday. Apparently they do not require bathing or teeth brushing..... So GROSS:smack:
