Teenage boys and hygiene, or lack there of!

I forgot the worst part...... He goes to his Dad's on the weekend and comes back wearing the same clothes on Sunday that he left in on Thursday. Apparently they do not require bathing or teeth brushing..... So GROSS:smack:

That's not true! I make him shower and brush his teeth everynight. He wouldn't wear the same clothes if you ever sent him over with a change of clothes.

So it's not possible that he changed and had the clothes washed and just ended up wearing them home Sunday?

I am now raising the youngest(10 and a half) of 4 boys....he, like the rest has to be told on a daily basis that Axe should not be used as a fogging device to get the dogs to stay out of his room

They all went threw the "I don't have time to shower" stage which usually last about 19.3 seconds with me....I don't care how late they were for whatever they were doing, they were going to bathe(on a daily basis), brush their teeth, put on deodorant and clean clothes before they did it....and yea, it was like pulling teeth sometimes, but they did it

I'm a bitch like that

My girl on the other hand, spends an hour in the bathroom in the morning getting ready for school and 2 hours in there at night "taking a shower"

I'm afraid not - - I wish that were the case

After listening to him and all those other football players talk about "impressing the girls" for 3 months of practice/games, I'd have to say that he did take a shower or 2 while he was there :lmao:

Kids don't need deoderant until they reach puberty. 10 is too young to be sweating that, and stressing out over it might make him  later on.

Needing nagging for tooth brushing is normal.

Is the Cell Phone in he left hand or right as your driving? I forgot while your experting!

DO you not send extra clothes or what?

Because we have joint custody (at his Father's request) he is supposed to provide him with colthes and personal hygiene items for his house. Having said that, I send tooth brushes, tooth paste, deodorant, and contact supplies over there regularly. So, he should have clothes over there to put on. He prefers to take clothes from my house because all of the clothes he gets there are hand-me-downs from his step brotheres.

When my stepson (same age as my son) comes to visit on weekends he does not bring clothes or hygiene stuff with him because we have them at our house for him. I also make sure that the closthes he wears down on Friday are washed and he puts them on Sunday afternoon after he showers to wear back to his Mother's house.

Starting Over
WTH..... Why won't they shower, brush their teeth or put on deodorant? Is it just my kid?

My 13 year old is pretty good about showering everyday and putting on deodorant. I buy the body wash for men that is for washing the hair also. That way it is less confusing for him. Now brushing his teeth, that is a different story. He thinks gum will clean his teeth. Always reminding him to brush, drives me crazy because I can't stand the smell of bad breath. Makes me sick to my stomach. I tell him all the time, "Brush your teeth, your breath smells like someone took a sh!t in your mouth." Teenagers got to love them.

Incidentally folks grunge is back in. And the skater deal. Even if they shower they'll put on dirty clothes.

This is something I never completely grew out of, I'm 22. The jeans don't get washed until visibly dirty or I get something on them. Hoodies don't get washed until they're covered in dust and cat hair. Everything else gets washed when I have absolutely nothing else to wear.

My 12 year old was wearing his "Doors" hoodie yesterday and I commented how dirty it was. He shrugged and laughed.

Understand, I would not let him go out in public like that but this is the way he is.
