DETROIT - Three teenage relatives have been charged in the death of an Iraq War veteran who was gunned down and robbed shortly after cashing a tax refund check for more than $5,000.

Steven Johnson, 15, was charged as an adult with first-degree murder, while his brother, William, and cousin, Duane Johnson, both 17, were charged with conspiring to rob and kill Bush. All three were arraigned Monday.

At least they are being charged as adults.

I agree. That is horrible what they did.

This is very disturbing. I cant believe kids that young have access to guns and then use them against someone that is protecting us.

Illegal guns are easy to come by. That's why gun control laws don't effect crime.

Actually, that's why gun control laws have a negative effect on crime. The criminals know that they have little to fear.

I don't think that really matters. I don't think they have positive or negative effects.

They shouldn't be tried as adults. They should be given a hand gun and dropped off in the middle of Iraq. Either they will get blown up by an IED or starve to death. Both work very well for me.

States that have allow conceled weapons unless there is a reason not to grant the liscense, have lower crime rates.

+1, shall issue works, after criminals see people fighting back they often reconsider.

Texas allows conceled weapons, but violent crime has shown a sharp increase in Houston due to the influx of Katrina "victims". Other areas show a decrease, it's not the law but the type of criminal present.

I know for a fact that The Rock is older than 17.

And I find it very hard to believe that the People's Champion would stoop to these horrible shenanigans.

Not trying to demean the honor of the Iraqi veteran, but did these kids know he was a vet? I do not condone their actions, but it seems like the story is a bit sensationalized for the fact that the victim was a veteran. Would it have been equally disturbing if the victim hadn't been a vet, but just a plain ordinary American? Certainly, it wouldn't diminish the fact that he is survived by his fiancee and 4 month old daughter.

Probably would not have been as disturbing.

Not because the crime itself is any worse because of the victims military service - but it's more disturbing because the victim survived flying over seas, fighting terr'ists, only to fly home and be killed by a band of domestic thugs.

Maybe it's not MORE disturbing, but it's just another facet of this disgrace.

Same with the fact that he's leaving behind a young child... His life wasn't any more valuable because he had a child - but it's another facet to the disgrace; that there's another fatherless child because of these pieces of excrement.

Sickening.

There is a sharp increase because of a large population change. These imported crooks don't realize that the locals can fight back and the ranks of the "imports" have not been "thinned" by "natural attrition" yet.
