Look, new drywall, is paper over dried mud. You prime and paint that. How is that any different, than dealing with what you've got now?

I'll think about it. Have to finish up the upstairs first. We've got 2 bedrooms and a bathroom to modernize. The bathroom is going to be a complete gutting. Soooo it'll be a while before we get to the kitchen.

Kilz Odorless Primer will do a nice job over paper. I've done it in my house and you can't even tell there is paper under there.

If you use a slightly textured paint it will cover a lot.
