Textured Paint on Aluminum Siding.....

I have some aluminum siding that I would like to repaint. It has some dings in it but otherwise in good condition. I have had the thought of painting it with paint that has sand in it to give it a texture so the dings don't show up. Anyone think this would look OK or would it look like shiat?

The current color is a medium-dark urine yellow and I want to change it to a beige.

Tear it down and sell it. Aluminum is going for big bucks. :coffee:

Sand would be a verybad idea and would most likely look like shiat.

good luck
It's a major effort to properly strip, primer and paint a piece of aluminum.

No stripping need just a good washing off of the chalking paint. Primer probably isn't needed either since the siding is only about 7 years old.

I actually like the aluminum better than vinyl that bows and looks like your house is made of Tupperware.

I would think it would hold dirt and give algae a place to grow more easily.

You have a point there. I painted the cinder blocks around the bottom in back with some masonry paint that has sand in it. It looks good but does hold some dirt so I hose it down once and a while.
