Shows that you know nothing about the oil industry, Burner service has always been a millstone around oil companies necks like their squirt truck drivers. You desperately need them in the heating season, not so much in the spring, summer and fall. Which is why many independent oil companies have gone into propane delivery and HVAC installation and service. It's a way to keep the truck drivers and service techs on board for the heating season.
So you're willing to pay more per gallon because a company does more than just sell oil? How stupid is that? An HVAC company handles my service.Shows that you know nothing about the oil industry, Burner service has always been a millstone around oil companies necks like their squirt truck drivers. Did it? I haven't seen much of a change except a different tech services my furnace now. I'm on auto-delivery so don't have to call for oil when everyone else is.SMOs service went to crap after they sold out.
When it's cold as crap out and the furnace takes a dump I'm pretty sure paying a little more for the fuel is the last thing on most peoples mind. There are not as many burner techs as there once were, I like the peace of mind of knowing if I need one he is just a phone call away and that I am a priority customer. So in a nutshell yeah.So you're willing to pay more per gallon because a company does more than just sell oil?
My issues with SMO are documented on here, three strikes and they are out with me.Did it? I haven't seen much of a change except a different tech services my furnace now. I'm on auto-delivery so don't have to call for oil when everyone else is.
Still doesn't change the fact that I provided evidence that a smaller company can not just compete, but under cut the larger one on price. Changing the goal posts. I am a priority customer with TN Bowes also because I have a contract one that pays for itself with the maintenance. When it's cold as crap out and the furnace takes a dump I'm pretty sure paying a little more for the fuel is the last thing on most peoples mind. So your burner service is done by Tommy? Oh and by the way SMO is owned by Griffith Energy Services, bought out about 2 or 3 years ago. Did you by chance understand anything about what I said? Or should I type slower?Still doesn't change the fact that I provided evidence that a smaller company can not just compete, but under cut the larger one on price. Changing the goal posts. Do you understand the SMO costs more and is a regional company that should have greater buying power? So your burner service is done by Tommy? I have stated many many times that I was an electrical contractor and worked with many of the independent local oil companies SMO, Burch, Ridgell, Early, Gottco Eastern and Qdog a bunch of southern maryland marinas Rod n Reel, Point Lookout, Dennis Point not to mention numerous propane outlets. I've had many a conversation with their CEOs and operations officers and at one time was in the running to buy Lusby Sunoco.Do you understand the SMO costs more and is a regional company that should have greater buying power?
My entire point was the stations that existed here before about 2000 were over charging, Sheetz and WaWa made them lower their prices. Independent stations operated and still operate elsewhere where Sheetz and WaWa existed just fine, case in point was my high school friends family business that has operated since the 50's and still does even though Sheetz came to town in the late 80s, gone is his garage and that station sells gas, cigarettes, and a handful of things like windshield washer fluid quart of oil and lottery tickets, doesn't even have an "inside".
I'd prefer to be ripped off by a nameless faceless cooperation for $0.01 than someone down the street for $0.25 any day of the week.
So oh oil industry expert, were you one of the people doing the ripping off?
But Maryland Department of Taxation says they are. They assess the value of your property on a 3 year cycle, then they tax it (state/county/municipal) where the tax rate of all three is a percentage. You missed a lot, especially with property taxes, which aren't assessed as a percent. You'd be surprised what a typical person doesn't understand. That includes supposedly highly educated Captains of the Civil Service, especially the ones who claim they work on budgets as their job. Elected officials play that "tax rate stayed the same" verbal ju-jitsu and that's what people hear.
For the gas tax, mixing two types of tax, per gallon and sales, is just confusing enough that people's heads start to explode thinking about it.
Here is a serious question, do you think this is the only place mom and pop stations existed in recent history?I have stated many many times that I was an electrical contractor and worked with many of the independent local oil companies SMO, Burch, Ridgell, Early, Gottco Eastern and Qdog a bunch of southern maryland marinas Rod n Reel, Point Lookout, Dennis Point not to mention numerous propane outlets. So yes I have quite a bit of insight on the subject.
What? But Maryland Department of Taxation says they are. They assess the value of your property on a 3 year cycle, then they tax it (state/county/municipal) where the tax rate of all three is a percentage.
Just like sales tax, a percentage of the actual value (rather than assessed) levied by the state, county, and municipality.
You can't just say "it's different" without explaining how it's different.
