What are you making? Anything different or just the traditional dishes? Gathering with family or nope?

Going to my daughters, we have been doing that for the past few years. My contribution is dressing and oyster dressing and a dessert.

Undecided. Might make a turkey breast on the rotisserie, might do a couple of stuffed Cornish hens. By myself this year, but that's the norm for T-giving.

About 9 pounds of smoked turkey. :lmao: Going to my sister's house and spending it at her sister-in-law's house with the family. Making the Pumpkin Crunch Cake from the recipe I got from @RoseRed to take with me.

Getting the Farmhouse Feast Thanksgiving dinner from Bob Evans (Turkey, ham, all the trimmings and two kinds of pie!). Hosting T-giving at our house for the first time. Eager to show off all the upgrades we did to our house and all new furniture/paint/decor.

Big thanksgiving this year: last one in my parents' house in CT before they sell/move so allll the family is showing up. I think we're up to over 20 people.

antipasto platters
lasagna(s)
stuffed mushrooms
2 (!!)16lb turkeys...my uncle is insisting on roasting one himself, so we convinced my husband to smoke the other so we can have both 🤤 his smoked turkeys are the only way I'll eat them now. I'll brine it starting Tuesday night in my go-to maple bourbon brine.
browned butter mashed potatoes ala lucky_bee
traditional homemade stuffing
a couple other veggies in there

I'm also making a salted caramel bread pudding
butterscotch bourbon apple pie (had to fight for this one, I just can't do plain  )
a pumpkin spice "magic" cake, which is really just a nice pumpkin spice cake with a layer of custard on top but it really does look magical.

I'm heading to CT a whole 2 days before my husband so I can help my mother prepare. I'm mostly on dessert duty though! My favorite! Besides the desserts, I really can't get my family to budge on "our" traditional menu. BUT since they're downsizing, and we got a nice new house fit for entertaining, plus a lil' mini on the way, we get to host starting next year and I can't wait to dictate the menu :lmao:

I wish I was going somewhere. I hate Thanksgiving. Used to be great when I was in the Navy, I liked coming home, someone else stuck with all the cooking. Now that it's me, not so much fun anymore.
Problem solved.

I think I gained 10 lbs just reading that

I’d say have a good time but since the main theme is bourbon, I’m sure you will :buddies:

Whelp FF's not doing anything and she's always so pleasant, maybe she'd like to come over too and no offense but you don't seem to have much of a personality - maybe you aren't going anywhere either.

:roflmao:

Pssst: he's teasing you.

Moving on:

I can't remember where but at some point we got a tomahawk steak and Monello grilled it up. It was the cat's ass so maybe I'll try to find another one for TG. Or since we have the air fryer I'll bet I could turn out a pretty excellent prime rib roast.

I cook for the family. My parents passed away a few years ago, so I'm only cooking for my sister and my in-laws. I love cooking and love preparing for Thanksgiving dinner. I take the entire week off. Only problem is that my in laws only like the standards. Very picky family. Every time I find something new to make, it's only my sister and I that would eat it so it isn't really worth the effort. We usually have smoked turkey, but my sister in-law won't eat that, so I make her some sort of pasta. My one BIL only eats turkey, rice and corn. My husband and my other BIL won't eat stuffing. So I make the following:

Smoked Turkey, Three Cheeses and Sausage Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Cauliflower Casserole, Corn, Green Beans, Rice and Rigatoni.

My sister and I split the stuffing and cauliflower casserole :)
