Thanksgiving menu ideas

My brother is coming for Thanksgiving. I haven't had Thanksgiving or any holiday dinner with him since my mom passed last year, and he hasn't been up to SoMd in a few years, so I want to cook a lot!

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, Stuffed ham, roasted brussels sprouts, corn souffle/casserole, cranberry something or other...not sure, yet. Rolls, black olives, Pumpkin Lust Cake, Cherry Pie. I am still deciding on cooking up a pot of kale or not

Thanksgiving is so traditional that I have a standard menu that has to be served to please everyone but I am looking for additional suggestions that are good. We have to have: Turkey, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, Corn and Stuffing. I also make baked kale for me! Husband won't touch it.

Any interesting additions out there?

A Hannibalesque dinner item suggestion has been removed from this post.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
Stuffed ham, fried oysters, PERIOD. (And unlike Pinnochiobama, I meant that shiat)

The wife cooks up a carrot and apple side dish with copious amounts of butter and brown sugar that is ridiculously good. Also, she makes a spinach salad with an apple vinagrette that is easy peasy to make.

Fricassee de Parietal Lobe, garnished with fresh dill, served on a bed of brown rice with a mild garlic and white wine sauce. I prefer to add a bit of lemon zest and cracked pepper to the sauce, but that is largely a matter of personal preference.

Of course the risk is that a culinary delight such as this one may overshadow the rest of the menu, quite stealing the show.

I can provide a handy illustration to assist you in discerning the location of the parietal lobe if you wish.

:killingme Well, the OP did ask for interesting additions to Thanksgiving dinner, Mr. Lecter.

We are having brie with apricot jam in puffed pastry for appetizer, fried turkey with giblet gravy, mac and cheese, pumpkin spice muffins, twice baked potatoes with all the fixins, oven roasted vegetables, romaine and compari tomato salad w/ vinegarette, and cherry pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Yummy! (Oh boy, we're BOTH in trouble now. THAT never happens!) :killingme

Acorn squash makes an interesting change of pace. Just bake with some butter, brown sugar & REAL maple syrup.

Creamed carrots or creamed spinach. What's Thanksgiving without additional calories.

Cranberry relish made with bagged cranberries and citrus fruits. Lots of recipes online.

I grew some acorn squash in my garden this year. Thanks for the idea. I make a cranberry/orange relish with some grand marnier.

We have a newish family tradition of serving pineapple souffle. It started with my sister's mother in law. She started to attend with our family when her husband died (my BIL is an only child). It's really surprisingly good, though is likely sounds ghastly. I can dig up a recipe if it sounds interesting.

That sounds interesting. I would love the recipe

Have you ever tried cranberry with the brie instead?

That is a great idea! Thanks. We have been so gaga over the brie with apricot since we discovered the recipe a couple months ago that we were having tunnel vision.

You could even do apricot and cranberry. They go well together.
