Can someone explain to me why someone in charge of a multi billion dollar business and 200,000+ employees should work for $1 a year?

Pete, not bashing, but look at the previous post by me.....They should not have to work for $1 a year. No one could live off of a dollar a year. But instead, why doesn't the government say that they should be able to make, lets say $400,000 a year, until the bailout loan is payed back. That in my opinion would be acceptable.

That would also put the bigwigs in a place like the average human. I make just over $30,000 a year, and have the bills to support the $30,000 a year. So maybe dropping them down to $400,000 a year would let them see reality a little better.

I think it is up to the BOD of GM to set the guys salary not the Senate Finance Committee.

Most of those Senators are millionaires, I don't see any of them giving their salaries back to the treasury department and keeping only a $1.

Okay......so my initial statement was a bit broad. What I meant was,
"HA! NOW you fat cats need the 'little guy'to bail your a** out." What these folks with their private jets need to do, is live on a working man's salary for a while. If they want to move some automobiles, have something like a 2% sale; you know.....2% over invoice sale. Of course the 2% is a fictitious figure, but most of you get the idea. All these "sale prices" are a crock.

Take Bell Motor Co.; what used to be the oldest dealership in the world; now it's closing. Why? Because 'if you want the car it's going to cost you this much." "It says so right on the window sticker." If these car dealers that are hurting because they're not selling any cars would have a "5% over invoice sale"; for example; they might move some wheels.

What do you thing Ford/ GMC has been doing with Employee Pricing (not going to talk for Ford ) but.. GMC is below invoice that these cars are selling or still not selling for and the salesperson makes what is refered to as a mini sale and gets at best $100.00 but what is making it even worst is the banks are not lending monies (and well it should) like they use to and unless you have perfect or near perfect credit you can't buy anyway

...and why should they?

Imagine how you'd feel if some ####tard got $28 mil a year to run a mere company into the ground when all you got was, what, $180k or so to help run a whole nation into the ground?

That I agree with even hey give them 100k a year and use the other funds to help out with everything else its just like actors, sports players they make these ridiculous amounts of money then cry how broke they are cause they can't buy house number 8 in France

...why in the hell would people with tens of millions of dollars in the bank work for $400,000 a year when they can quit and go make millions more somewhere else?
