here are a few facts about the GMHS Incident & SMNEWSNET
On September 18, 2014 at
8:25 AM, a male subject called the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) and reported people in the school had guns and were going to start shooting at 10:00 AM.
At
8:50 a.m. SMNEWSNET called St. Mary's County Sherif's Office PIO and asked if she could confirm that the school was locked down. (NEVER GOT A CALL BACK)
At
8:58 SMNEWSNET goes with the following release
On Thursday, September 18, 2014 at just after 8;30 a.m. Great Mills High School was locked down by local authorities.
All entrances have been closed and no traffic is allowed on school grounds.
Multiple police units are responding at this time.
One student texted SMNEWSNWET and said they had the lights off in their classroom they were in and the doors were locked.
A source close to the investigation revealed that a phone call was made that gave an "exact and detailed threat towards the students in the school”
(the original stated something like no traffic aloud in the school grounds) spelling error, I know, posted live from school, on a cell pone.
We reported "exact and detailed threat towards the students in the school”
we knew the caller said the shooters would start shooting at 10 am. We left it as "exact and detailed threat towards the students in the school” enough to put out facts but not to make it worse with too much info.

Deputies Investigating Threat at Great Mills High School
A short time ago, the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a single phone call reporting an unsubstantiated verbal threat at Great Mills High School. As a result, the school was immediately placed on lockdown. Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers, K9 units, and several additional patrol deputies are on the scene. The school will remain on lockdown until the situation is resolved.
St. Mary's Public Schools will be issuing an alert to parents.
Additional information will be released as it is developed. (THEY NEVER SAID WHERE)
At 4:07p.m. the SMCSO finally updates their “internet news site” First Sheriff Blogspot with a full update on both lockdowns.
