Maybe it depends on what you look at once on the site... I do know my AVG had to auto-quarantine a temp file after I went to their site on Friday and I also know several companies that now have thebaynet site blocked from being acessed as of today and the "blocked" warning gives indication it was due to a 'phishing' issue with the site.

So does anyone know which specific virus it is that people are getting from thebaynet? My AVG protected me from it on my other computer, but I only have mcgafee on this one and it isn't finding anything, but I don't trust that I'm not infected. Apparently the infections began last Thursday.
I wonder if Sockgirl will chime in and clear this up.

I'm really disappointed they haven't posted anything about it to us yet considering how much traffic they get from our forums.
I'd like to know what specifically it was and how we can check to be sure we are clean.
PAX blocked it. I won't visit from home until there is an explaination.

They must not know they've been compromised. Many other server admins have recognized the virus and have stopped access to the sites and have started quarantining computers on their network that are infected... it's still an ongoing cleanup.

Not saying it's related or the virus in question, but a few of my people have been hit with these very recently:
Mal/Zbot-FG, MAL/JavaGen-E, Troj/JSRedir-GZ, MAL/ExpJS-N, Troj/Java-FB, Mal/JavaHeL-D
I'm suspecting the Java trojans.
Symptoms were that there were many many pop-ups indicating the hard drive controller could not access the drive, HDD failure, another pop-up from a bogus "repair" utility that wanted money, and all files had the 'hidden' attribute turned on.
It can be recovered, but takes way to much time and energy. I boot in safe mode, recover all user data, scan and clean it, reimage the computer. Much faster, no chance of not getting it all cleaned.
Again, no idea if this is the issue in question, but a few of these guys do hit the local SoMD websites.

This is the first that I am seeing this thread. We have had no issues. Our IT guy is running every test possible. I am so surprised nobody emailed us about this when it started. The first we heard of it was when an email was forwarded it to us today. We have a fb page, most people know who I am now in here, and my cell number/email addy are all over the place. If we find anything I will be sure to update you!
