The Conjuring

My wife and I saw The Conjuring on Friday night. Over all I have to say that I really liked this movie. For a horror film it was remarkably well done. The story was intriguing, perhaps more intriguing than scary although it certainly did have its moments. The setting is the 1970's and the producer did an excellent job of pulling it off adding to the believability of the story. The Conjuring is said to be based on true events but to what extent no one knows outside of the family living in the house. In any event the movie was frightening, believable and the characters were inviting. Most importantly I was entertained while being maybe just a little bit scared...

If you like an Amityville style horror film then I think you'll like The Conjuring. My rating is: :popcorn::popcorn: out of 4 bags of .

I wanna be a SMIB
I heard on the news that it got an R rating not for sex, violence, or lang, but because it was so scary.

I went out with my friends friday night and the discussion turned to seeing this movie. They are trying to talk me into to going, and that is NOT going to happen. I refuse to be their entertainment everytime the movie startles me and I scream involuntarily. :diva:

I can't decide if I will be brave enough to see this or not. I love horror movies but get a little freaked out over the demonology part. Ghosts I can handle. When I was about 10, I watched The Exorcist and of course was terrified for weeks. At one point (stupid me) I tried to get a piece of toast out of the toaster with a regular kitchen knife, of course got shocked, and I just KNEW that devil had posessed me. I ran around the house screaming. Took my parents a while to figure out what had happened. At least they got a good laugh.

Go see it and you'll be glad that you did. This movie in my opinion is on the same level as the Exorsist, but I enjoyed the story here a lot more. There's just nothing like a movie about a seemingly normal family following their dream of owning a beautiful home in the country only to find out that the house is possessed by demons and that you can't leave because they have attached themselves to you and will follow you. Scary stuff for sure. Now you throw in the fact this is all based on true events and it makes it all that much better. Its been a long time since we've seen a horror film of this caliber come out of Hollywood.

ehhh... Good movie, but I don't think it was all that "scary"....

I went right to sleep. My girl couldn't understand how I could watch American Horror and then go to bed. She would leave the room as soon as she saw what was on the TV. :lmao:

"because they have attached themselves to you and will follow you"

This is exactly why demonology freaks me out! I am hiding in the shadows hoping that they don't find me. I have enough issues to deal with.
