Unlike some, I value the opinon that others' have and I believe that it should be considered. I am not saying that their opinion should fully be accepted; I am merely saying that it should be considered. That way, our decisions can be made with a broad, global perspective rather than a limited, single-minded one.

But your question hits something else that I believe should be considered: do newspaper/magazine editorials make a lick of difference anyway? No, they don't.
The Global Test mantra (you gotta' love how so many want to cede control over our nation to others - NOT) is what you are talking about and when it comes to who runs our nation or what actions we take to insure our safety, it is our business and no one else.

Thanks for taking my words out of context. I said that other nations' opinions should be considered. You know, practice diplomacy, the lost art of foreign policy, and if that does not work, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Nothing was taken out of context. You said that the opinions of foreigners should be considered when we elect our leaders; I say that the opinions and desires of Americans are the only thing that matter.

The lost art of foreign policy is what Bush has brought back from many days of ass kissing and complacency.

Well, it comes down to a fundamental difference of philosophy. I believe in world security, not just American security, and as such, I do consider the opinions of foreign nations, especially the Western European democracies that helped us to tear down the Iron Curtain.

What the hell are you talking about? The Iron Curtain would still be up and strong for but one reason, the power of America. Europeans, for the most part, have shown their ambivalence to living under another's control and if left to their own devices would become accustomed to living under another’s thumb.
