The MANDATE conundrum

TPD

As I understand it, if you claim a religious exemption, your employer is not allowed to ask any questions about your religious belief system. You don't have to subscribe to any of the top 5 organized religions - you could have a religion and god that only you and your immediate family worship and believe in-that is your right and religious belief. No one can take that away from you. Just like I am not allowed as an employer to ask about your religious beliefs in an interview and base my hiring decision on your religion, I cannot base my firing decision on your religion.

I think you only need to submit a single sentence claiming the religious exemption from the jab mandate. The less you say, the better you will be. It is no one's business what religion you subscribe to and I think the courts have been clear in this. Here is an example of the sentence you need to submit - the key words being "sincerely held religious beliefs":

Because of my strong and sincerely held moral and religious beliefs, I am requesting a religious exemption from the vaccine mandate in order to maintain my employment with this company.

I am still a firm believer that this is purely a money grab. Still want to see results of an investigation into Congressional share holdings for Big Pharma, needle manufacturers, mask makers, etc. ANYTHING having to do with treatment or prevention of COVID. Follow the MONEY!
It seems very odd to me that no therapeutics that currently exist were made widely available to the public, made fun of as horse meds and so on. Yet Pfizer can make billions, again, buy creating a new pill for the Rona.

If you are employed in an at-will state, one can be fired for ANY REASON at all (or NO REASON AT ALL), save for a a few reasons dealing with certain protected things. Example, you can't be fired because you are gay, black, etc. You CAN be fired if your boss doesn't like the scent of your cologne or doesn't like the fact that you might wear a tie that is garish or clashes with your suit.

Obviously government employment - at any level - is NOT at-will and doesn't have the same rules.

In the case of the feds, if one works for an agency under the executive branch, the executive, i.e., POTUS has broad and sweeping authority. That's why Biden's mandate doesn't apply to Congress of Judiciary, for example; he doesn't have the authority there.

Mind you, I am not a fan of mandates - EVERYONE must have the CHOICE. But that doesn't mean these actions are unconstitutional.

edit to add: this is why people are suddenly finding religion and using that to get out of it - religion is protected.

I'm becoming - I think justifiably - increasing distrustful towards a government that I once held in reverence when it can compel you to buy health insurance or force you to take a vaccination - or else pay a fine or be terminated from your job. I guess at least it's not firing squad or jail, but seriously how far off can it be if we allow it?

Just saw on TV this sort of thing is going to be required in San Fran for CHILDREN.
As in, proof of vaccination.

I'm growing increasingly suspicious that this is anything but a power grab, and I mean it.
Governments big and small overreached and MUST KEEP THE OVERREACH in order to protect them from lawsuits.
They are stuck trying to keep us afraid to interact normally until they feel it is safe (FOR THEM) to say it's ok - when in fact, it HAS been ok for a year.

Bill Maher said it as much - the pandemic is over. Just admit it. Proof of vaccination just shows how much like a sheep you are, because it doesn't keep you from getting the virus, doesn't keep you from spreading the virus, and evidently is not a guarantee you won't get sick -

But if YOU DO get it - unless you are old - your chances of GETTING SICK even with the COVID are trivial.

This is the heart of my question. At what point can the government question how you interpret your own religious beliefs? If some get the jab to keep their jobs and others wait it out only to find that the government back peddles and allows un-jabbed people to keep working, what will happen to those who jabbed to keep their job? At the very least, you will have a boat load of unhappy/disgruntled workers. At worst, there will be many, many lawsuits.

This is a factual statement but it neglects to mention that if fired unjustly and without cause you can grieve it through the grievance process if you are unionized or you can seek redress through the judiciary process.

I saw that too.

I think the world has turned upside down. It is a power grab and the lefty press spoon-feeding the fear into people. I am not afraid of the virus and haven't been sick in nearly 2 years, not even a sniffle.

I can understand that sentiment.

But once one understands that government exists for one purpose and one purpose ONLY - to maintain the monopoly on (ostensibly legitimate) violence - then it makes perfect sense the kinds of things it does in our good name.

Many have turned distrustful of government for far less egregious transgressions, and I completely get it.

It used to be the government couldn't question your religious beliefs, but as we have seen the last 20 months, the government can do as they please. The lawsuits will be very real when the government changes their mind or is forced to change their mind by the courts. Reparations for POC will be a thing of the past - it will be reparations for people jabbed against their will!

Where my wife works there was one hold out. A guy around 26 who got an exemption. He has to get tested once a week. There have been several people fully vaccinated that have got covid. So far he hasn't even being sick.

It's a bit of poetic license to call this an "exemption". The "mandate" provides for either getting the jab or getting tested on a regular basis. This is choice, not exemption.

I have gotten the jags, won't call it a vaccine since you can still get it. Based on my symptoms after, it wasn't the 24 hours of chills, I will not get a booster. People I know who have gotten the booster had a more severe reaction, Ill for multiple days.
Once they make you get the shots, will the nazis make you get the boosters?
