I still like my penguin theory.. Why do they walk 70 miles inland to mate? Because when they first started mating there it was only 1/4 mile inland, the ice has increased in size THAT much over the millenia.

Now when they have to walk 1/4 inland to mate again, we'll be back to 'normal'.

Nice strawman. You assume I've made those arguments, when I have not. I never discussed why the earth is getting warmer, only that it is getting warmer. Even Bush agrees the earth is growing warmer - the data is indisputable. The issue is to understand how a warming planet may impact our future, and if the impacts of warming are detrimental - whether there is something we can do to ameliorate the phenomena.

Aren't the ice caps currently the largest they have been since they started measuring them? which has only been about 30 years and that doesn't qualify as a geological pimple
