The price of heating oil

We're being robbed. The price I was quoted by local companies is from $4.16 to $4.29 per gal. and they said it's going to go up higher once it gets cold. Heating oil is less refined and doesn't have all the taxes that gas and diesel have on it. Why is it higher? It should be cheaper.
I read it's because of a trading loophole that allows speculators to buy paper quantities and manipulate prices that way.
I'm just wondering why our elected officials are allowing us to be hi-jacked like this.
Don't expect any real answers, I'm just venting .

I don't believe that heating oil is going to rise. I think they are trying to get you to buy now while the price is high.

According to DOE heating oil futures are falling.

If you want a low price, wait for Larry Gude to buy. Guaranteed that the price will fall soon after.

I'm trying to find words to express my anger, fear, and outrage at what our elected officials are doing/have done to us. The words that I DO find are not allowed in this public forum.

Gasoline--here in rural Americana, you NEED gasoline to get to work, to store, to school, to where-ever.
Food/household supplies--many item prices are increased because the merchant CAN --remember when eggs were close to $3.00/doz? The spring prior spring they were selling for about $.99/doz. The cause? Oh, well.....corn used to be fed to chickens was now being grown to make methanol. and blah blah blah
Talk about venting!!!

Imagine what's going to happen when wind turbines really become the focus... they will soon be taxing the air we breath...:ohwell:

I thought that only happened if I bought it. Sorry Larry - didn't mean to try and steal your thunder...

Bound to happen. Are you aware that if you reclaim cooking oil to use in your diesel vehicle that you are supposed to pay the state taxes ? They will find a way to get your money, even if it's already been taxed and paid for.

It's not taxing the air you breathe .... it's taxing the energy that the owners of the turbines produce. Just because air is 'free' doesn't mean everything that uses air is.

I've been thinking about it for a long time, and I guess it's finally time to get back to the solar panel pages.

I'm getting ready to build a home, and have looked at tons of stuff because of the heating prices, and it's hard to make a decision. I want to learn how to live off the grid, but it sure isn't easy.

Trying to decide is almost impossible here in MD, it gets so cold, and you really need a backup system too. I have a generator, and lots of storage for gasoline for it, but we are right back to gas prices again, however, having the use of Solar for a while, is still better than using oil all the time.

The big issue here is.....

when will we, the people of MD, get together and tell them we will not pay that amount.

We won't, and that's the problem.

Get together, make arrangements for shelter, plan ahead, and STOP BUYING. It's the only thing they understand, DON'T BUY!

Will we do it? No, no one will do anything anymore. I would, but without the numbers, it won't even be noticed.

We actually CAN still change things, but it takes the masses for some issues, and this is one of them.

The internet is one place that makes that possible. Many can join together and decide what they want, then let your officials know about it, and take a stand.

We are getting eaten alive by the cost of just living, and what will we do? Nothing, not until everyone is going bankrupt, because of the cost of heating our homes, eating, and paying taxes.

Does the word Revolution sound about right?

Today you will need to get up off your b*tt and do something, nothing else will do it.

We have known for a long time that it's taking a toll on all of us, and we still just sit and talk.

It's our choice what happens, we either learn how to change it, and do it, or we freeze, it's that simple, and if not, soon it will be.

Are you sure your cash will cover the cost this year? Next year?

I'm as frustrated as you are, I think we all are.

When do we stop paying what a foreign country tells us what we will pay?
When will we tap our own resources?
When will we take the time to find out how your county works, and what steps it takes to change things?

Just my thoughts.

I think the problem with telling everyone to get together and make changes is the fact the most people can't afford to.

Sure, we could all make the switch away from oil .... if we were rich.

It'll happen eventually, because it will have to. Gas prices went sky high a little while ago so americans responded by driving a few billion miles less. BAM! lower prices. The people selling gas realized that they had exceeded the average american wallet and backed off a bit.

It'll take time, but eventually everyone will be able to get greener/cheaper energy.

OH YES, your following quotation does ring a bell (would that be a bell of freedom???)
"Does the word Revolution sound about right?"
I do think if something is not done soon, we see that.
Newsman Peter Jennings, who was from Canada, made the statement on the air regarding one of our many stupid government edicts, "I'm surprised you haven't had another revolution."
Me too, Peter whereever you are, me too!

SoMdLady1 No truer statement has ever been said... We are getting screwed to the Max. If everyone would stand together and make them eat the oil and gas for a while they would maybe see that we are sick and tired of this bunch of lies. I left my house one friday to go the the bank and WaWa was 3.55 and when I came back 10 minutes later it was 3.57. The next morning husband and I went to do errands and it was 3.61 by the time we came back it was 3.71.. Now you tell me how it happened that fast and how they paid that much for that gas in less than 24 hours.. We are getting ripped the heck off and the big wheels are putting it in their pockets and it isn't gonna stop until we do something about it... But, you know what all these years (8) big boys have been living in the lap of money and screwing us regular hard working people. But, it is coming back to roost now and I hope they know the feeling that we do that we don't know how we are going to pay for heating oil, fuel for a vehicles and put food on our tables.. If we could just stand together for a weekend... hmmmmm

I guess you do not remember the power of peaceful protesting.

that's not peaceful protesting. It's just not filling up for a couple days.

there is nothing short of just driving MUCH less that will have much of an effect on gas prices.

We're starting as a country to do that. Whether it sticks or not has yet to be determined.

I hear less SUVs and Hummers are being sold while economy type cars are doing great. It's a great start.

May not be peaceful protest, but it's the kind that actually works. Wallet protest.
