And if there was a really good Italian restaurant around here nobody would go to it because they'd be busy standing in line at the Applebee's.

DiGiovanni's is excellent and Niko's has very good pizza. You're not going to find NY style anything around here because guess what? This is Maryland, not New York. You're also not going to find TX BBQ or authentic Mexican or Jamaican jerk or kickass borscht for that same reason.

I personally think we need a Maid-Rite or Tastee, but I'll bet I never get one.

We ate at The Tides ONCE. It was the most god-awful food and we have never been back.

Average and below average food seems to be the norm in this area. Try to find a decent NY style pizza that does not include provolone cheese. For that matter, try to find authentic Italian food in this area. Olive Garden, NOT. DiGiovanni's, not even close.

The owner IS Italian and there are lots of rave reviews from forumites. Also, Foxhound's BIL's family is Italian and HE likes the food. You seem to be in the minority.
