Power with Control

NASA and Boeing are conducting the "Green Run" hotfire test of the core booster for the Space Launch System. 1.6 million ftlbs of thrust from four Shuttle era RS-325 engines. Should be pretty spectacular, and god knows Boeing needs one flawless test, since last year was a crapshow.

60 seconds into burn and an MCF shutdown. At least they didn't blow up. The guys on NASA Spaceflight.com says it could be weeks to turn these around for another test.

Jebus, these guys cant catch a break this makes three high profile test involving space systems in the last 10 months that have not gone to plan. Weeks? Two months minimum, I think, never underestimate the sheer amount of inertia that Boeing can bring to bear on any problem. They needed 180 seconds to get all the data, and expected to go for I think a full 240 second burn. Never made it engine gimbal.
