When does Satan's 1000 year sentence end? And why is he being temporarily paroled?

Back to Revelation 20

Revelation 20:7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Satan's 1000 year sentence ends after 1000 years. He, of course, gets no time off for good behavior.

He's paroled so he can be defeated by Jesus the King, once and for all.

When Jesus returns and steps on Mt. Olive he will defeat the Antichrist and establish a realm of 1000 years. After this time then Satan wil be released and jesus will defeat him and cast him into the lake of eternal fire. At this point New Jerusalem will decend and the sea and the land will give up the dead and all wil be judged. Those found worthy will be allowed into the pearly gates of new jerusalem, the unworthy wil be cast into thre lake of eternal fire with Satan. According to the book of revelations, everyone who dies id dead until this happens. So i do not understand how Christians can claim they go to heaven when they die. They are dead until Jesus looks for their name in the nook of life at the end of the world. Same wat when Christians claim there i sno such thing as ghosts when Saul talked to Samuel's ghost and the ghosts walked the streets of jerusalem after the crucifixion.

But that doesn't really tell me when that 1000 years starts & ends. The way I'm reading it, it sounds like there was a 1000 year sentence that probably would have ended almost 1000 years ago. So that's why I asked.

Also, that false prophet that turns people astray that's supposed to come before the real prophet...I've always found that...interesting. :coffee:

Jesus wouldn't tell us when all this is going to happen. There's a Revelation Study going on now in these threads. A lot of people have speculated on when it will happen. I bought into that game for a while too.... it really doesn't matter....

What matters is that it will happen.

watch for the Temple to be rebuilt, the abomination of desolation needs the Temple rebuilt in order to happen, not to mention the fact that the outer court of the Temple is given to the Gentiles to trample on, and according to recent studies, the Temple could be rebuilt with just the outer court remaining unbuilt because it's area lays where the Dome of the Rock stands now.

During the thousand years (or The Millennium) Satan is bound and Jesus and the Church will be reigning on earth. This will be a peaceful Golden Age with no wars, no death, no diseases, no pain, ect. There's never been a time in our history when the world was this way. Actually, history shows us the exact opposite happening. True Christians have always been a small minority and persecuted and the world has always been a mess (and getting worse every day).

As for the false prophet, whoever he will be, he will 'lead' people into worshipping the antichrist. After the Tribulation, they will both thrown into the Abyss and the true (real) Prophet/Messiah/King will take over and reign.

Hope that answers your questions!

It occurs to me.... while you might be right in saying "they can't all be right".... we should be worried that "they may all be wrong" !

(1) Ephesus (Revelation 2:1-7) - the church that had forsaken its first love (2:4).

(2) Smyrna (Revelation 2:8-11) - the church that would suffer persecution (2:10).

(3) Pergamum (Revelation 2:12-17) - the church that needed to repent (2:16).

(4) Thyatira (Revelation 2:18-29) - the church that had a false prophetess (2:20).

(5) Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6) - the church that had fallen asleep (3:2).

(6) Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13) - the church that had endured patiently (3:10).

(7) Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22) - the church with the lukewarm faith (3:16).

Can't you find your church in this list?

The Church of Philadelphia and the Church of Smyrna got it 'right'. The Church of Philadelphia was told to "Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown" and the Church of Smyrna was told to "Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life" or to paraphrased: "Keep up the good work!"

The Lord had nothing bad to say about either one of them. These were the two best Church Ages, spiritually. For most of the Christians in those Churches, all they had to do was keep doing what they were doing.

They other Churches, on the other hand....

We're in the Laodicea Church Age:

the church with the lukewarm faith (Rev 3:16).

This is what the Lord said about this Church:

"And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,'These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'--and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked-- 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches." '

Laodicea is the only church of the 7 to have its name in the dictionary. A Laodicean is defined as:

a person who is lukewarm or indifferent in religion.

Does that describe you or your church?

(That's not directed at you personally, hotcoffee but to all Christians of today .. I know you're not lukewarm. I see you as on fire for the Lord) .

If you notice, most of the other churches had Jesus praising them as well as rebuking them but not this church. He had not a single word of praise for it or for any of its members.

Jesus didn't mince words here, He said this church (and its members) NAUSEATES Him, MAKES HIM SICK, makes Him want to VOMIT. That's pretty harsh. Notice He wasn't being very politically correct to not offend anyone either. He wasn't wringing His Hands crying: O WHY CAN'T WE JUST GET ALONG WITH ONE ANOTHER, PEOPLE!!!

Making Him sick and vomiting them out is how He describes TODAY'S CHURCH and its members.

Which makes me really question the church I attend, as well really questioning myself if I am in need of :

" buying from Him gold refined in fire and white garments to cover my nakedness and anoint my eyes with salve so I may see and to be zealous and repent."

The LAST thing I want to hear is the Lord telling me I was neither hot nor cold but LUKEWARM so therefore He is going to vomit me out of his Mouth.

Ok, here is the problem I have with saying the church is lukewarm today: you only see a small portion of the church. There have always been lukewarm churches, from the original Laodicea to one's today. There is more to the church than white America or white Europe. Look to Cuba or China or India before making such a misinformed assumption. The church in Cuba is nowhere near lukewarm, its burning white hot.

Sorry I wasn't clear, I meant the big mainstream churches of today are lukewarm. There are some true believers in those churches (which was true of all the churches mentioned) but the Laodicea church itself is lukewarm. And you're right, the churches (the true one all over the world) are burning bright. God always has His remnent of true believers in every time period including now.
