Extremely Staunch Right-wing crazy people in my family were actively telling me not to vote for "that fat piece of shit". Keep in mind, these are people who would literally (maybe figuratively) vote for a Three Toed Sloth if it had a (R) next to it's name.
I think Hogan maybe should have strategized his exit better.
This is Maryland. What other option did Larry seriously have? Go hard right? He assumed he had the Reps locked-in, and was counting on the Ind vote because (1) they helped carry him into the Gov's mansion twice, and (2) since they trend Dem he had to distance himself from Trump.
Larry was in a no-win situation.

And don't look at me - I don't hate him. The only thing I don't like is that he did his Victory dance in Leonardtown when he was elected the first time - and that may have been the last time he thought of Southern Maryland for the next 8 years. But overall I thought he was ok, especially after the goddamn shitshow that O'Malley left behind.
It's the Republicans I know who hate him. He should have done something to lure them back besides assuming he had them locked in.
He could have governed better maybe. Or not been such a slimy crook. That covid iron fist thing wasn't a winning strategy.
Republicans didn't love him, they just voted against the Democrat. Fat lotta good it did them, but they knew that going in.

I did not put a check next to either candidate in the MD senate race. Hogan’s 800 covid tattle tale hotline did it for me. I was a victim of that hotline. F*ck fat Larry!

I really couldn't believe commercials - AND posts I saw online - where people feared a Senator Hogan would give the GOP the Senate.
Umm. No. If you had ANY political acumen - you knew it was already over. WV *was* going to elect a Republican, and Tester in Montana was toast.

IMO (which isn't worth much) If Fat Larry had left Trump alone he would not have lost as many Republican votes.
He sucked up to the Waldorf-Baltimore crowd and told the red neck Marylanders to go F themselves.
Maybe that isn't what lost it for him, but it didn't help. Many Marylanders who voted for him did not really want to.
Many more left that circle on the ballot empty. Hopefully we have seen the last of Fat Larry.
