This is my son Griffin, and he may have measles.

And I didn't get invited to your Shingles Shindig?:drama:

Seriously though, that's crappy. Is there a chance you'll get it again and can you get the shot?

I don't think those are contagious.

Shingles are related to chicken pox, its the same dormant virus that stays with you. It's been many, many years since I had them, so I'm not too concerned at this point. I haven't even thought to inquire about the shot. I'll try and remember next time I see my doctor.

It's a good thing then, I've seen pics and they look absolutely horrible.

I was exposed to chicken pox when a young child and got nothing, then when I was 19 I some how got it. I thought my head was going to explode from the headache I had before I broke out then OMG the itching.

I was a recipient of a booster MMR shot that had an adverse reaction. My arm had a baseball sized lump in it about a week after getting the shot, I had to have surgery to get out a big green ball of puss.

I had them everywhere, there was one in the back of my throat and I thought it was going to kill me. I'm sure I'll have shingles eventually, not looking forward to that, just hope I get the shot before it happens.

Stress can bring them on.

I had shingles in my 30's. Twice.

I just went through my 4th, 5th and 6th bouts of shingles over the last 6 months. They'd go away and come back. My immune system was shot from those damn e-cigs. They are contagious to anyone who hasn't had chicken pox(won't get shingles, but can get chicken pox) or has a compromised immune system (can get shingles by contact). I spent a fortune on bandages to cover the blisters until they healed to keep from spreading the virus. Once the blisters have dried, no longer contagious. Doc is keeping me on anti-virals for another 3 months just to be sure. The pain however, won't go away.

I am so sorry. How awful for you. I didn't know that about e-cigs and the immune system. I hope you never get shingles again!

I am sorry that it keeps happening, I am a little confused over the e-cig connection. First time i have ever heard that.

We couldn't figure out why my immune system crashed. I saw the reports about the e-cigs and the immune system yesterday and put 2 and 2 together. My doc did the same thing and called me to let me know this could be why I got so sick. Slowly getting my strength back. I hope this shingles pain goes away soon.

That is just not fair. You were trying to do the right thing by quitting smoking. Is this all confirmed that e-cigs is the cause? I hope you get your strength back and feel better very soon. :huggy:

Mom says: "I set out to prove that we were right," Hills said in an interview with the Washington Post, "and in the process found out how wrong we were.", after a Canadian woman who had declined to have her children immunized against pertussis, better known as whooping cough, has changed her position now that all seven of her children have come down with the disease.
