These city tyrants think they can boss everyone around like they're mafia Dons or something. It's too bad about SF, though. I had heard back in the day that it was a terrific city and had hoped to visit one day, but you'd never get me to set foot in that literal shithole now.

Last year, a Whole Foods location in San Francisco closed a little more than one year after it opened. Records indicated that the Market Street location was the scene of 568 emergency calls in a 13-month period due to incidents such as vagrants throwing food, yelling, fighting and attempting to defecate on the floor, according to the New York Times. At least 14 arrests were made at the location.

"Where you going, WF? Come back! We demand you come back! What's a little floor shitting between friends?"

San Franciscans could all starve to death and it wouldn't hurt my feelings any. They've been voting for this for years and now it's out of control.

The store would also be required to post notices at all entries and exits as a means of informing customers and the general public. The rule wouldn't preclude closures due to a store being unprofitable.

So a business owner has to provide 6 months notice for closing because the neighbor hood is an unsafe crime ridden cesspool, I doubt you well have to prove much

Theft = profit loss = unprofitable

I hear Shoppers Food World is closing 3 stores in St. Mary's County.
Sounds pretty stupid to me they just moved into the old McKays stores, but i know they weren't doing too good the prices were too high, but they7 had good donuts. Seems stupid to move in and then close before even 6 months was up, that had to cost a fortune. Don't they sign leases any more?

I think Tax-a-chussetts already attempted this, or maybe they still do. I don't feel like googling it right now.

California Attempting "Exit Tax" In 2024 To Prevent Fleeing Wealthy

In 2024, California introduced a groundbreaking yet controversial financial measure: the exit tax. This unprecedented policy mandates that individuals relocating out of the state pay a tax on their net worth, targeting particularly those with substantial assets accrued within the Golden State’s borders. Designed to clamp down on the outflow of wealth and ensure departing residents contribute to the state’s economic well-being, the exit tax has ignited a firestorm of debate.

San Francisco Bill Would Let People Sue Grocery Stores for Closing Too Quickly

Supermarket operators would also have to make "good faith" efforts to ensure the continued availability of groceries at their shuttered location, either through finding a successor store, helping residents form a grocery co-op, or any other plan they might work out by meeting with city and neighborhood residents.

Lest one thinks this is some heavy-handed City Hall intervention, the ordinance makes clear that owners still retain the ultimate power to close their store. It also creates a number of exemptions to the six-month notice requirement. If a store is closing because of a natural disaster or business circumstances that aren't "reasonably foreseeable," it doesn't have to provide the full six months' notice.

Still, should stores close without providing the proper notice, persons affected by the closure would be entitled to sue the closed store for damages.

And WHO still sees the Republican Party as the party of Nazis?!

Can you imagine that? They screw up their state so badly that people are leaving, then instead of going, "Gee, maybe we should rethink how we're running this place," they double down.

Democrats are the worst people on the planet. And MSN is all "Oh, groundbreaking!" A "firestorm of debate!" ****ing tards.

I wonder when it was terrific? I lived very close to SF in the 70s and 80s (close enough that we called SF "the city") and visited at least once a month. It wasn't terrific back then, though the wharf, observatory, and exploratorium were kind of cool.

Maybe they should just put in a bakery or donut connection or something. I don't like Dunkin and can't honestly say I have ever had someone tell me they like dunkin's donuts better than pretty much anywhere else. I know they have a new fancy donut place in old town, but I'm also not particularly looking to spend $20 for 2 donuts and a coffee.

The Dunkin donuts get smaller every year.

I know a lot of Democrats who are fine people. Most of them that I know are democrats because their parents were., they are older.
My father was a Democrat so when I got old enough to vote I was a democrat. Bill Clinton convinced me. I changed to Republican.
Now the cowardice of the republicans make me think real hard about being and Independent, but I do like to vote in the Primary's.
neither party is worth a pint of owl piss, but so far the republicans are still a shade better than Democrat.
I know that there are many people who feel like I do, but where can we go, There is no viable party to turn to, so we stay where we are.

I believe the people of either party are basically good, but the politicians are horrendous.

When the going gets tough, the democrats try to reinstitute slavery. That is what forced labor really is.

While the bill may never pass, the shop owners could use this as a sign to hasten departure and close shops, all at once, before the bill can go into effect, and avoid a lawsuit.

And who elects the politicians?

You don't know any Democrats who are "fine people". Nobody does. Democrats support aborticide on demand, up to and even after birth, and allowing men to say they're women so they can beat them up under the guise of "playing sports" and prey on them in gyms and restrooms. They also cheer on pedophiles and violent criminals. They are in favor of squatters taking over your home, oh and PS you have to pay the utilities for them.

If they were "fine people", they wouldn't be Democrats.

"Oh, those Nazis were fine people except for that supporting Hitler in genocide thing...." 🤪 😜

Move out the valuable stuff, then leave the doors unlocked so the animals can steal the rest. Since lack of profit is a valid reason to close according to the proposed law they can easily show the loss.

Have you even been in there? Two donuts and a large coffee run a little over $10.00.

Hate is not a good thing to live with. It is akin to racism. Hating people because they are Jews, or black or Democrat. It's all the same thing.
I have been called racist here you have accused me of it, but the truth is I don't hate anyone and I know that there are many people of any group that are good people. I judge , I suppose Judge is the wrong word, but I will use it. I judge people individually, by their actions .I don't know why people would vote for Joe and Cackles, I don't know why anyone would vote for Steny Hoyer or for any of the Democrats in Annapolis, but I cannot hate them individually for it when many go to Church with me belong to the America legion with me, Volunteer for the Fire Department and the Rescue Squad along with Republicans ,I sure hate what the Democrat politicians are doing to our country and I sure don't understand why they vote for them , but as individuals I cannot hate them. Too many are family.

is it six months or at least six months? Because if it's at least six months I'd give my notice now and just keep in a perpetual state of pulling chocks.

I was exaggerating for effect, and thank you for making my point. A little over $10 for two donuts and a coffee is way too much.
