This is pretty hilarious

I was exaggerating for effect, and thank you for making my point. A little over $10 for two donuts and a coffee is way too much.
Agreed, but it's just a little over what everyone else is charging. It's a nice place to go for a bump; bistro atmosphere, pastries made at the restaurant, more than just donuts, right on the square, so it's a good place to people watch.

"a bump"
  • Slang: A small amount of an illegal drug that is inhaled while powdered, such as cocaine

Ok, definitely not my scene then.

Hating people because they are Jews, or black or Democrat. It's all the same thing.

It is certainly not the same thing. Jews and blacks and gay people and whatever as a group have never done anything to me, and have no bearing on my quality of living. Democrats, on the other hand, as a group are trying desperately to not only destroy my country, but my personal well-being.

This is the problem with Republicans and other non-Democrats: they're all, "Oh, this Party is horrible....but not my friend or family member who is a member of that Party and facilitates the horrible things it's doing."

"Oh, my brother isn't a pedophile and woman-beater - he just helps out people who are and makes sure they have unfettered access to their victims....."

At your age nobody should have to explain evil to you. Or hypocrisy.

I wonder when it was terrific? I lived very close to SF in the 70s and 80s (close enough that we called SF "the city") and visited at least once a month. It wasn't terrific back then, though the wharf, observatory, and exploratorium were kind of cool.
I was stationed San Diego in the '70s. Since the Ranger was home-ported out of Alameda at the time, I had several occasions to visit SF, over the course of a couple of years. Wasn't impressed then, nor later, when an over-the-road friend of mine and I drove up there to drop off some electrical equipment of some kind downtown SF. Never really saw any reason to go back, and since then, plenty of reasons to stay away.

A couple of friends lived up in Shasta, and another south of there. All three of them report San Franciscans moving out to the sticks - and wanting to turn the sticks into San Fran.

Hate is not a good thing to live with. It is akin to racism. Hating people because they are Jews, or black or Democrat. It's all the same thing.
I have been called racist here you have accused me of it, but the truth is I don't hate anyone and I know that there are many people of any group that are good people. I judge , I suppose Judge is the wrong word, but I will use it. I judge people individually, by their actions .I don't know why people would vote for Joe and Cackles, I don't know why anyone would vote for Steny Hoyer or for any of the Democrats in Annapolis, but I cannot hate them individually for it when many go to Church with me belong to the America legion with me, Volunteer for the Fire Department and the Rescue Squad along with Republicans ,I sure hate what the Democrat politicians are doing to our country and I sure don't understand why they vote for them , but as individuals I cannot hate them. Too many are family.
I agree with in totality. One of my aunts is about the most liberal Dems that you've ever met, aside from that she's one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I just don't follow her on facebook and turn her on when I want to talk. My other aunts husband is the opposite, he can't separate politics from the rest of his life. I agree with him on most subjects, but he doesn't know how to modulate himself to maintain peaceful relationships.
They live on opposite ends of the countries so their overlap is just their continual bickering followed by several weeks of ignoring each other.

Only the glazed ones.

Not a full assortment.

They have one in Waldork... California/Lex Park should rate for one.
I'm not in for turning this area into Waldorf, I'd rather unWaldorf it.

So, "wasnt teriffic" to me means something like Pattaya Beach, whereas todays SF comes across more like Mogadishu.....

Wasn't terrific means we didn't go unless there was a specific reason to, usually to buy illegal fire crackers from China Town. You knew you were in the right area when the trash on the sidewalks was above ankle deep. We also went for regattas at the Presidio and the aforementioned planetarium and exploratorium.

See, I think perhaps we are thinking of it differently. You say "politics" and I say "government". Politics is bullshit, but it manifests itself in government, which is very important. The reason we're paying more and earning less is because of government, which came about because of politics. The reason squatters can come live in your house and you can't get them out is because of government. The reason illegal aliens can come live off our tax dollars is because of government.

I don't hate Democrats because of politics, I hate them because of the way they govern. And I loathe the people who put them in a position to govern over me and affect my life negatively. Especially since many of those same people bitch and cry when the government they voted for screws them over, yet they keep voting for it. Or else they lie and pretend the government they voted for that is screwing them over isn't really happening.

And this is why we'll never have change in this country - too many people are complacent, don't care, and keeping the peace is more important to them.

And that's fine. Do you. But I never want to make nice with people who are doing me direct harm, have no intention of stopping, and in fact would like it to be even worse. I'm not about one-sided relationships.

is it six months or at least six months? Because if it's at least six months I'd give my notice now and just keep in a perpetual state of pulling chocks.
They may have to keep the store open for 6 months, But they don't need to keep it fully stocked, or to have no more than one checker.

San Francisco to allow residents to sue fleeing groceries that don't give six months' notice before closing

Who'd want to do business in a city that requires six months' notice plus the difficult task of getting a replacement or organizing a food co-op for the 'privilege' of closure when all they want to do is get out?

It's an absolute disincentive to try to supply food to all the local residents in the area, and for those without cars, of which there are many, they're looking at two-hour journeys by the lousiest city buses, driven by the meanest union drivers, with the highest number of bums onboard in close quarters in any urban area.

As for the owners, it's no treat either. Under the new law, this cumbersome regulation to businesses that are clearly in distress is nothing more than insult added to injury. They pay high taxes for the privilege of operating there, they sustain so much thievery they have to put their goods behind plexiglass cases, which costs money, they get zero law enforcement help when they get robbed because thefts are so common, and as a last resort, they try to close doors, they get hit by a raft of lawsuits.

But for the thieves of San Francisco, who steal and fence stolen goods as a lifestyle choice to pay for illegal drugs, the six-months' notice, plus the right to file lawsuits, is a gravy bonanza.
