Im am going to make alot of comments on this since I have toured some of the world (Developed nations and 3rd world countries alike)
First off, I am going to say that some of these nations don't have the infrastructure to handle food shipments like most countries do... Runways that support cargo aircraft, organized government that stardardizes food & water supply, a system to hand out the food and ensure that everyone has the capability of not only feeding themselves but learning how. Some of these countries have become so dependant on food shipments I don't even think they could grow their own food if they wanted to.
Muslim countries are very strict on womens rights... they basically have none. They are 3rd class citizens.
Food shipments are sent to Africa alot of the time, however, now when you do this, you must guard them against looters and the militia's. A prime example is the part of the movie you didn't see on "black hawk down" where prior to the armys' arrival the US marines were sent there to guard UN/US food shipments because people were attacking to get food.
The US does see the need to fix the problem along with alot of other african nations.... we have established AFCOM and we are building bases in Africa now, as we speak.
As far as the having kids issue. I guess its just incidental. There could be a number of reasons that they are popping out kids. We have the same issue in this country. The state of Ohio pays women 18-24 3000 dollars every year they don't get pregnant because the state is going to end up paying for it anyway if they do end up that way.
We have the problem here in this country too. Women popping out kids they cannot afford/pay for. I think birth control should be handed out in schools, not just condoms. We have daycare in high schools in Charles County. The majority of your tax money is going to pay for single mothers on welfare whether you realize it or not. 65% of that money that goes to taxes was the last number I heard. Someone mentioned to me that the state of Maryland supposidly only pays for 2 kids nowadays... any more than that and the state will refuse to pay to curb these "ghetto baby farms" (where the mothers have 8 different daddies).Im not sure if that is true or not... but if it is, its about damn time.
I think when we can handle the problem at home, perhaps we will develop a solution for problems abroad.
