I didn't see the news story... but maybe she didn't know who her bebe's daddies were, nor their families, and didn't want them to end up in the system. :sarcasm:

This is where you are wrong! Not all children raised in trailers or trailer parks turn out to be trash! I didn't, my sisters didn't and my brother didn't! So I completely resent that remark! Just because you are poor does not make you trash! My father worked his ass off every day and so did my mom, but we just didn't have the means to live in a house! My mother raised me fine! I was always clean, I was always full, and I always had clothes and a home. It was not a "House" but it was my home and its all we had! So before you go spouting off about such things, maybe you should get to know some of the PEOPLE you call "trash"! :burning:
I don't think that's what she was driving at, but I imagine she'll be along shortly to set you straight. :lmao:

If that is not what she was driving at then pray tell, what was it??? I have had 3 different people read what she said and then what I said and they agreed with me. So please, by all means, straighten me out!

Well, I'm not in the habit of putting words in other people's mouths, so you'll have to wait on her. I didn't interpret her statement the same way you did, and I don't think Vrai is as irrational as you're making her out to be.

You and your parents and siblings were simply a family that resided in a trailer and made it your home. What Vrai is talking about - I believe - is "trailer trash" people who have no regard for personal behavior and personal resposibility, and no regard for making their lives better.

That I can understand, but that's not the way it sounded. I have been called horrible things by people pretty much most of my life because I grew up poor. I get immediately defensive when it comes to people calling people trailer trash. I am sorry that I lost my mind! :drama:

This is how I interpreted it as well. And the term "trailer trash", IMO, isn't going to be synonymous with living in a trailer. Britney Spears comes to mind. :ohwell:

Sis, you are preaching to the choir. My Mom was a drunk and we lived in a trailer with her assorted and sundry boyfriends. She's all cleaned up now but me and the rest of my family knew her when. Not one single one of my cousins is worth two ####s. Well, my cousin Jason is doing okay, but he had a fab Mom who raised me when my own Mom was busy getting drunk and laid.

I've gone on and made a life for myself with decent enough decisions. But the vast majority of my former compatriots have not. They're still banging with the gang, buncha different bebe Daddies, drugs, jail, etc. And I'll bet that you're an anomaly among your former peers.

Am I right?

Well, to tell you the truth I don't know. I have not lived there in many many years. I can tell you this, my cousin who was raised in a house with decent parents has turned into white trash. She lives in a disgusting run down trailer with her one child and her husband. She is a pill popper and he is an alcoholic. He is also one of Knoxvilles so called finest! So it really doesn't matter how your raised its how you handle your life's decisions! Thats how I look at it. But I do see your point. :yay:

Trash comes in all economic stratospheres.

Anyway, I think we can safely say that this hanging woman was never going to amount to a hill of #### and it's likely her children wouldn't, either. Too bad, but what are ya gonna do?

So why "trailer trash", not just TRASH? reference to where people live is why. :smack:

Trailers denote a certain je ne sais quoi, a certain je ne fais rien. A certain schadenfreude. And some other foreign expressions that I can't recall, meaning that trailers suck.

I lived in one, so I should know.

We rant and rave about welfare mamas with a zillion kids and no means of supporting them. Yet we don't like abortion and we also don't like it when they exterminate themselves.

I personally believe abortion is wrong but it is also wrong for welfare-moms to continue having children when she already knows she can't support the ones she already has.

I've heard stories of women on welfare having kids just in the hope it will increase their welfare or food stamp allotment. They don't take into account the extra money and time it takes to raise the child.

:yeahthat: This is why I'm so proud of my home now.

Son of a son, son of a son
Son of a son of a sailor
The seas in my veins
The tradition remains
I'm just glad I don't live in a trailer

or

And mobile homes they smother the Keys
I hate those bastards so much.
I wish a summer storm would blow them all away up to fantasy land.
They're ugly and they're square, and they don't belong here
They looked a lot better as beer cans.

My home was a trailor until I was 16. When I was 16 my momma left and moved in with her boyfriend, leaving me to support myself. I worked my butt off at my job and finished school and went to college. I am now married with 2 kids, have a good job, and doing very good for myself. My friends that I grew up with are a bunch of losers. Can't keep crappy jobs, several kids w/different daddys that don't pay child support. They think the world owes them something. Collect every benefit there is out there. The girl that was my best friend is like that and I can't believe how different we are now. I don't even like to be around her cause of her BS and she always wants to "borrow" money. I may see her twice a year now and thats cause she will call me and give me the guilt trip about not hanging out. I drive to her trailor park and visit her cause I don't want her to come to my house cause she would bring her bf and I don't want anything stollen. I don't trust him.
