I know the pain you are in because we lost our shepherd mix, Cookie, to the same condition in Jan., and we didn't know it was there. I know you are grieving, but just remember you gave your beautiful dogs a wonderful life, and time will heal your pain. I read the article about the condition, and even if we had known, I don't think I would have put my Cookie through the surgery, plus the complications seemed pretty severe. Don't beat yourself up because you couldn't have known. Also, she went quickly and did not suffer. I know this because I was there when this happened to my dog. She knows you loved her very much.
