I hate agreeing with mrweb, but he's right. We get name brand stuff for cheap. A lot of well to do people donate there.

Example: A tommy outfit, with tags still attached, $1

Thanks, nice to know that two a$$ hats can occasionally agree. They actually generate over a million a year in gross receipts, notwithstanding the small amount they charge for their goods. Have a good one MMDad.

There's a place in Calvert in the same little strip shopping center as the Lusby Post Office that sells really nice quality children's clothes on consignment. I've not been there personally, but my sister picked up a few things for me for my bebe, and they looked to be in very nice shape. The listing of items that they take is pretty discriminating; they only take well-used better name brand items. Cheap stuff and badly-worn items are turned away.

I'm sorry that I don't have the specific name of the business (Calvert Kids, maybe?) or a phone number, but they shouldn't be that difficult to find.

Good luck!

It is Calvert Kids. She has really good prices. She only has new to fairly new clothes in her stores... She is very picky on what she sale. Now she also has sale on top of the good prices...
The best place for clothes is the Thrift store in Owings. It is that white house on 260 that stands alone... If you been there you know what I mean. They are very cheap and have tons of brand names..I say that where all the rich give their clothes too...
Hit the yard sales!!!!!

Does the Naval Station have a thrift store? I used to go to the one on Andrews AFB years ago when my kids were small for some great deals on clothes (this has been about 10 years ago, however). Before that I went to a thrift store on base in NY when my husband was stationed there, and got some great stuff there too. I had good luck with the military ones.

I was told the Salvation Army or Goodwill (whichever is right across from the Waldorf Wal-Mart) has half-price clothes on Wednesdays. I had heard this last summer, but I never went in to check it out.
nope no thrift store or anything like that at NAS PAX.

While your looking for thrift stores, don't forget the Farmer's Market and Big Red Barn on 235 near Mechanicsville. Actually the farmer's market is right next to a thrift store called Vintage Values. I belive the Barn is open every Saturday and Sunday. Both have all sorts of vendors and I always enjoy going. I'm sure you could find some nice toys and furniture and maybe even clothes.

Maybe someone else knows the exact days and times they are open.

The county or something won't let Pax have a thrift store. My husband actually tried to start one on base but was told no because it would take business from the one at gate 2. Oh well...

Your probably right, I'm not sure of the name, I just know it's a thrift store by the farmer's market.

To me, it's "The Thrift store on 235" :)
