Thunder, Lightning, Heavy Rain, Hail

Didn't see anything posted. Did anyone else get heavy thunder, spectacular lightning, heavy rain, and a good five minutes of hail last night around 7 or was it restricted to the southern end of the county only. I was on the road, horrible driving conditions and the lightning was the kind that looks like it's hitting the ground. Huge bolts, like every 30 seconds.

WE got hit with it here between the Green Door and St Mary College. Was a pretty narrow band of it judging by the fact that Dameron and St Georges Island didn't get that.

Great light show, really loud thunder, short heavy downpour for a few minutes. Then hail. Calm for 30 seconds and started again.
I turned the lights out and put the pillow over my head. Wind was a BITCH.

Hail is reported to have covered the road in the Piney Point area. They said it covered the road like snow. By the time I got there for an event in the area that night most was melted. Some was still left. Radar did have a "Hook Echo" which usually indicates a tornado at one point. However, it disipated before it could create a warning for the Ridge area.

Yup. I was at the top of Ivy Hill and that road is steep w/rocks and deep gullies on both sides. I called my son who lives off St Andrews Church to reassure myself that he wasn't out in it and he had no idea what I was talking about.

Not really sure. BF lives down there. Road is great if can drive straight down the middle but if there's someone else on it, there's nowhere to go to get out of their way. I had NO idea that there were hilly areas like that in SMC.

Yep, here not far away across the street, My house sits on a 100 foot elevation and in drops 30 feet to the stream in a few hundred feet. then rises to a 100 foot elevation in about 150 feet after that. Ivy has a similar drop from 100 feet at Rt 5 down to 30 at the culvert then back up to 100 where the houses are. I bought something from a guy in the house on the left a couple years back and we chatted about the culverts condition and the fact that is was going to cost big to fix it right.

I did not know that about your road. I even commented not that long ago that it looks so much flatter and even than his road. That whole area in that section on the right just after St. Mary's City is so pretty. We take that loop from Snow Hill that comes out the other end sometimes just for a drive. Prettiest area in Southern Maryland in my opinion.
