God bless the USA
Went there once in my 20 years in Calvert. I wish Solomon’s the best, but Tiki is a has been. Maybe, the new owner should reinvent it, somehow.

:ohwell: I sorry. I go prepare reparations....
And do not forget to cleanse yourself, your body and mind, purge those false idealizations, with 40 lashes of self flagellation. I've posted a picture of the proper procedure using special implements. Don't let us down.

Not a new owner. From what I've heard, the old Tiki's widow's new boyfriend, or just friend, (ya know how that grapevine works), is going to run the show. Operated by the same folks that run Union Jack’s and will do so for at least three years. Else, if it was sold there was no way for the liquor license to transfer to a new owner. A new liquor license application would have had to been submitted and most likely, say 100%, would not have been approved due to an already great number of other liquor sellers on the Island. And at a hearing on the matter, if there would have been one, all those current license holders would come out in full force against such issuance, as well as many residents, if not the entire Island. And there are many license holders. Many more that are more respectable in operation than what was Tiki. But hey, on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM there's gonna be a loud band playing called Iris. Just check your liver at the door before you enter.

There are any number of places on the Island that you can relax by the water, don't get the attraction of being on the street.

I went by the place about 3 weeks ago while walking the island. Place looked like a dump. I doubt it will look any better by opening. Guessing they are relying on the old crowds to mindlessly give them their money.

And... I am sure they won't be disappointed :lmao:

There were workmen rebuilding the street area between the bar and restaurant and the sitting area. We'll see how far the improvements go.

When I used to hang around down there, many thousands of years ago, the attraction wasn't being on the street. The attraction was hooking up with randos with little to no effort, and with the mutual understanding that a hook-up is all it was and would be.

And pretty damn good mai-tais.

Oh, goodie - I'll be sure to stay at the other end of the county that weekend. Maybe get in a nice hike somewhere on the ACLT. :yay:

Decided to walk over there the other night. Not passing any judgement, but the only "hook ups" would be if you you were a gay male.
Not a Mai-Tais drinker, not much for mixed drinks, so while it's not a dump, it's probably not going to be on my short list of places to go.

The Tiki Bar stopped being fun when Birdie sold it.

Yes!!! John and Birdie always had a fun place. Everyone was good and very few problems that were handled by the bouncers that they had hired. Roads weren't shut down and the only time you saw the police is them riding by just showing a presence.
