tint inspection

It's all about officer safety. Nothing more.

However that really doesnt make sense to me as SUVS and Trucks can be as dark as they want on any window past the drivers and front passenger window. I can see the point of making the tint illegal but I just feel it shoudl be illegal for all vehicles. I would be much more concerned with the amount of people and other stuff that they can cram in an SUV then like a 4 door Honda if I were a cop walking up from behind. Just my opinion..........

Like my work tools that I do not want anyone to see to steal? I think that is the reasoning behind that. Or why do they make vans with no windows at all in the back :jameo: :jameo: OMG the world is coming to an end

ok maybe I worded that wrong, I am all for having tint on vehicles, I just dont see the point of if the reason behind making it illegal on cars is police safety, why suvs and trucks are allowed to have it as dark as they want. I moved here from FL a few years ago and I had 5% limo tint on my car. It definitely kept the heat down in the car especially with black interior. I was not a happy camper when I had to pull it off to get my car registered up here when at the same shop, SUVS were having it put on.

SUV's still must maintain 35% on the front 2 windows and there are windshield restrictions as well.

On my Ramcharger I had stock smoked glass in the rear that was probably 25% or so. I put a layer of 20% over that, tinted my front 2 at 20% then down my windshield about 8" at 20%.

Same thing with my Magnum only I came down 11 1/2" on the windshield and kept the factory in the rear.

I remember my Ramcharger was so dark I had to roll down the windows to back up:lmao: I thought about doing that to my Suburban that I have now.

That's a hoot. Black attracts sunlight increasing heat, right? Then tint should actually be silver or something for reflective purposes. After all, window tint, side windows, and rear windows, are not polarized, so, tint serves no purpose for reducing heat or UV rays.

You are right and wrong, but more wrong, then right...:coffee:

Black does attract heat, but glass is transparent. Therefore the tint reduces the amount of light which is permitted to pass through the glass. Tints can reduce the amount of uv that also passes through the glass. Therefore you reduce the damage caused by uv rays on the interior, as well as the heat gain from the sunlight reaching the interior surfaces of the vehicle. These surfaces will heat up and radiate the heat inside the car. The slight amount of heat gain produced by creating a darker glass surface by tinting is by far outweighed by reducing the in-car heat gain of the sun light flooding the inside of the car.

I live in AZ where the sun beats down nearly all year along. Tint works believe me. If you don't have it here, you better hope for a light colored interior, cracking your windows and have a windshield screen "thingy".

It's just a "Jones" / "Fad" thing. It used to be car alarms, thank God that's over, I used to say, "I wish someone would steal that car so I don't have to be irritated by that &%#$ car alarm anymore" LOL.

Then all the kids had to have those low profile touring tires, which cost $2-300 each and last about 4 months, then it was car stereos that went BOOM, BOOM, and basically that was just a expensive way to shake the rust of their moms old Buick, and prove how worn out their old rattle bucket actually was.

Now about these irritating blue light bulbs, why? You can't see any better with the things and they appear to "wash" out what's in front of you anyway. The human eye is not designed to see with that color light, if it were, headlights would have been made differently eons ago.

But, anyway, as far as the tint thing is concerned, it's illegal anyway you look at it, it's a safety issue both for law enforcement and vehicle operation. So, if you wanna pay the money and enjoy it while you have before you get the ticket to have it removed, go ahead. But, why not just save that money and put gas in the tank.

OK, I think you might be somewhat misinformed...

There is a reason to having the low-profile tires. They increase vehicle stability while maneuvering. They are standard on pretty much every higher performance vehicle that rolls out of the dealer today. While I agree that much of what the younger generation is doing today with the tires is for looks, versus having a function, what's the harm??? Now a thumping stereo is a different story. I can't stand sitting at a traffic light and wondering where the thunder is coming from...

As for the "blue" lights. This is one of two things. If you are seeing them on a high end performance car (Mercedes, Porsche, caddy, etc) then they are actually a "white" light and are from HID lighting systems. They appear blue because the "temperature" of the light is higher and is a purer light then your standard halogen bulb that you see on 80 or 90 percent of the cars up and down the road. Light "temperatures" are measured in kelvin and provide you with some idea as to how pure and bright the light is. They are an exepnsive system, that's why you are seeing them on the more expensive cars. They do produce a better cleaner light for driving.

Now if you are seeing "blue" light coming from from someones '85 cavalier that has three colors of paint, etc. More then likely these are colored bulbs that are tinted to look blue. They actually reduce the amount of light while driving.

SUVs are the worst fad ever.
Good advice, just say no to tint.

I was pulled over last Wednesday for the same reason by a older female trooper. She was driving by me and then pulled me over. I will be going to MVA to get the car inspected. There are so many cars driving on RT 4 with very dark tint (much darker than mine) so I guess she had nothing better to do.

I was told that you either have to go to Waldorf or Glen Burnie to get the window tint inspected. Waldorf mva only does it on Thursday.am. Glen Burnie does the inspections Monday - Friday.
