And you thought your AM/PM rush was already a nightmare....
Open to traffic within 30 months(estimate) upon starting construction
I’d doubt prices are that different now, Easton is pretty expensive from what I recall. No deals to be had, this is Maryland. You have the privilege of paying 400k for a home and commuting 90 minutes one way to pay for it. Also the Pearl clutchers will fight it tooth and nail. The bridge will never be built for the reason though that it will serve no real purpose other than giving people from SOMD a shortcut to ocean city. While they are at it... why not build a bridge from Lusby over to the Eastern Shore?
Could you imagine the massive shift in housing market prices on both sides?!
Starting construction and finishing it are two different things.Would it be worth a toll if they guaranteed to start construction asap? Waiting for the State has gotten everyone nowhere.
Would provide an alternate route to the Bay Bridge and relieve congestion around Annapolis. The bridge will never be built for the reason though that it will serve no real purpose other than giving people from SOMD a shortcut to ocean city.

They're working on it! Don't be so impatient! When I first moved to SoMD in 1986 I was promised a causeway or ferry from Prince Fred to Cambridge +- to make Ocean City trips less onerous. It was coming any day, they said. It''ll be great, they said.
That's correct. Which is why it always gets thrown out first in the decennial studies about a new Bay bridge. The last study was just completed in the last year or so and determined the best place for a new crossing is...................................right where the current bridges are now.Read somewhere that a bridge in southern md would be crazy expensive, not only the span across the bay but a continuous span of miles over marshes, streams and whatnot after it hits the eastern shore.
Starts with a Louie (RIP)Extra points if anyone can name who owned a lot, if not most or all, of the land on both sides of the Bay where a southern bridge would go.
That's the guy...Met him in 88 when I moved to PF. I was gassing up in downtown PF and a town car pulled up on the other side of the pump island and a guy popped out to gas it up. I had a golden retriever puppy with me and he was standing on the drivers seat with his head out the window watching me. Back door of the town car opens and out steps this old white haired guy, he walked over to my car and asked "That be your dog?". I laughed and said yes and knew at that point it was Louie. He said I haven't seen you before, are you new to the area? I said yes, I moved in a couple weeks ago off of XXXXX Road. He said 'oh you musta bought the XXXXXX place'..Laughed again and said you're right. He introduced himself and I told him I thought that was you and I told him my name. He gave me one of his coins with "Bless y'all real good' on it and left. 3 years later I ran into him again in Giant when it first opened. He saw me, came up and said hi, XXXXX, how you liking it down here in Calvert. Floored me that he remembered my name..Amazing guy.Bless y'all real good!
I had a moment like that with my favorite Rock guitarist after a similar period of time.Floored me that he remembered my name.
Would provide an alternate route to the Bay Bridge and relieve congestion around Annapolis.
Would bolster revenue and tourism on the Eastern Shore (more people are willing to go more often due to decrease in travel times)
Would provide an alternate (faster?) route of travel between the VA Naval base(s) and Pax River.
It would definitely get use.
Imagine the increased traffic to get across the bay coming through Calvert. We would get all the Northern VA traffic passing through.Read somewhere that a bridge in southern md would be crazy expensive, not only the span across the bay but a continous span of miles over marshes, streams and whatnot after it hits the eastern shore.
I was thinking if Southern, Western, North East, and Eastern Shore formed a voting block in the Legislature, maybe we all could get nice things too. Then it dawned on me, they are already a voting block. They all elect Republicans to go to Anapolis. But someone, somewhere would have to actually give a flying **** about Southern Maryland.
The only people who gives a rat's ass about Southern Maryland, are the people IN Southern Maryland.
I'm not counting Prince George's county as Southern Maryland.
