Today's Bridal Shop in Lexington Park

Has anyone had any dealing with a bridal shop in San Souci Plaza. My daughter just had an expeirience with them and I want to know if any one has had the same or similar problem. My daughter ordered her dress and six brides maids dresses. They were asked to give their full measurements. Some were taken there and other were taken with other sources. When all the dresses can in they were huge. In fact one girls dress came in four sizes too big. Now the shop wants to charge for alterations that are almost as much as they paid for the dresses. When confronted they said they send the measurements to the dress maker and that is the sizes that they made and sent back. The owner of the shop said she is not responsible because that is the way the dressmaker works. I said if that is the vendor that she chose to use and if they have a flawed sytem in how to take measurements for dress sizes she is ultimatly responsible for any work that is performed by this person. She is the one that took the money(quite a bit I might add) and that is her problem. I don't want to ruin my daughter's special day so I don't plan to do anything prior to the wedding ,but watch out afterward. Most of these girls don't have alot of money and almost doubling the cost is something thay they were not prepared for.

What now?!
This isn't the first complaint from customers who have purchased from that bridal shop. I sent you a private message that will help you in your situation. This person will save you a lot of money.

i had no problems with them but I bought my dress off the rack. from what I understand ordering up several sizes is a relatively common practice in bridal shops. they don't make all that much on the dress but alerations are pretty much pure profit.

A popular fraud that a lot of bridal places try to pull. It's ridiculous, but it happens very often. Stand your ground and good luck!

My daughter got her wedding dress from Annapolis Formals, the shop next to Talbots in Jennifer Sq across from the mall in Annapolis. Her dress the the wedding party fit PERFECT. The owner of the shop said that is a trick many bridal shops use to make more money. She was maid of honor the year before her wedding and all the girls had to have dresses altered, they bought them at the shop in Walforf. The woman in Annapolis said this is comman pratice many shops (not her's) use.

Yes, we had a bad experience..

My friend bought her dress and all of our bridesmaids through them, the one lady told us, if we bought the shoes there we would get a 25% discount, well when it came around, that was forgotten, Oh, we never said that!

Also, the Ring Bearer's outfit was half paid when ordered, and on the DAY of the wedding, the RB's Mom went to pick it up and pay for the rest, well, the owner tells her the out of state check is no good there, WHEN they took the first half, it was just fine, this was the SAME LADY!! My GF went off, I mean, they just are very unaccommadating (sp?), and can be very rude.

I will never buy another thing at that place.

I was just in a wedding on last Sat. I got my Bridesmaid dress from Davids Bridal and it came back way too big. The dress cost about $125. Davids wanted about $95 to alter it.....needless to say I went elsewhere. I took my dress to the dry cleaner next to Lindas cafe, alterations there were only $55 for everything. The lady that works there is really nice and did a great job.

Beautiful Bride in that shopping center up in Waldorf where Circuit City is is bad also, all kinds of problems with our tuxedos and the bridesmaids dresses. A few of the jackets were too big, all the shirts were at least one size too big. My buddies never even came in, and when he went to pick it up, they tried telling him they had no record of him getting fitted or putting a deposit down (luckily he kept his recipt). The bride was absolutley furious...the bridesmaids dresses were all hosed up, cant really remember what was wrong with them, as I was chasing my tail trying to get the tux situation under control. But I would definitley not reccomend going there!

This happen to me with one of my girls in my wedding also with my flower girl. we told them the size of the flower girl and they said she would be in a size 2 and that did not sound right so we had her try a size 2 on and it was way too small. So we put her in a size 4 and it fit good.

Well I read your reviews and thought it's been a few years maybe things have changed. Plus I had 2 friends get their dresses from there and they had no problems. And they were the only bridal shop close to me that was a dealer for the designer dress I chose. Well wouldn't you know, my dress (the bride) was too big. And the seamtress there is a joke. She doesn't do what you ask to do to the dress, she does what she wants to do. Plus, she forgot my dress one time and never picked up the phone to call to reschedule, instead let me drive an hour down there to wait on her and find out that my dress wasn't even there. The dress was lopsided/uneven after her alterations. She was not committed to her customers and their wants/needs. Oh and my dress and the bridesmaids dresses smelled like drywall dust and come to find out the seamstress was having work done at her house, so that was another issue. I had 2 weeks til my wedding and then she took a vacation and my dress was no where near what I wanted. And that didn't even bother her. Needless to say that was the last draw. I ended up taking my dress to my Dry Cleaner in La Plata. That's right! They took out everything the seamstress did and started from scratch. They finished my dress in a few days and I tried it back on and just had to shorten the bottom again. They were simple fixes, all that I wanted to do from the beginning but the other lady wouldn't. Oh and there were issues with the bridesmaid dresses that I just don't have the time to get into.

All I have to say is thank goodness everything ended up working out. You live and you learn. I'm glad I'm only getting married once so I'll never have to deal with that again.

The original poster of this ad was my dad. This my wedding. I cant believe this place is actually still in business. They are lucky the Davids bridal in Waldorf was not open yet when I got married because I def would have gone elsewhere. The people were sooo snotty and condisending!!! The seamstress had the personallity of a wet mop. The alterations were terrible. Luckily it was no major repairs, just sloppy work. She charged me $150 just to cut the shoulder straps and re adjust them so they fit. This is supposed to be a wonderful exciting time in a brides life and the business of a bridal shop should be well aware of that!! My sisters dress(Bridemaid) was HUGE on her. She would hold it up to cover herself and it would literally fall to the floor. I asked the seamstress what is the point of measuring people if you are just going to order any size they feel like ordering. My sister as a size 8 they ordered a 14!!!! Needless to say I hope the word is out and brides do not even waste their time going here!!

anyone have suggestions for places to look at bridesmaids dress? waldorf or lex park area?

Someone was telling me of a bridal shop in La Plata next to Casey Jones that was pretty nice. Or just go to David's.

What colors are you using again?
