The Giant in Lusby SUCKS and has gone waaay downhill in the past two years.

Sorry to hear that. I like Giant but when we get back I'll probably hit up Harris Teeter because I grocery shop like other women shoe/clothing shop.

PCB got a Fresh Market since we were here last so I'm pretty excited about fresh ground coffee. :yahoo:

Uhhh, I think I might resemble that remark, but not sure. But what I was referring to is that many in Calvert County, especially those that live in the northern parts, look down on the southern end. If you go into the Prince Frederick Giant, it is always much better organized and stocked, and, even though they have those damned self-checkout lines, they still always have a 12 item or less open checkout line with cashier. Same with the Dunkirk store. But yet, it is as if the Lusby store is not even apart of the Giant food chain and is running as an independent.

PF Weiss sucks, and I will rarely go in there. Safeway has ticked me off so royally by never really having enough check out lanes open every time I go in there, so I started going to Giant. I'm paying a little more, but with soooo much less aggravation. :yay:

I am fortunate that my guy likes to cook, and is great at it! Therefore, he does most of the shopping.

I swore never to go back...

...but I ran in a few weekends ago, early in the a.m. for a few quick breakfast ingredients.
I was pleasantly surprised to see a large sign advertising that their Cabot Sharp Cheddar was on sale for $1.99... wait for it... if you bought 6 pkgs.
Well cheddar lasts a long time if unopened, and it was a pretty decent price, so I took the bait. I bought 6.

I got home, looked at my reciept, and saw that I actually paid $3.xx for each pkg. It was over $7.00 more than it would have been at the sale price.
I was positive that I had read the sign correctly - WTF happened?
So I drove back over to Weis, studied the sign closely - and 'woops' the sale ended yesterday. 'Forgot' to take the sign down.

I hate that %$#@&^%$#$%(*&^ store. :banghead: :burning:

Harris Teeter is my new go to. I don't find it more expensive that Giant or Ltown Mckays. I never shopped the Food Lion except on a whim..so I don't know how their prices compare. I assume cheaper...but I will spend $20 more to buy food at a nice place.

I'm also unhappy with Weiss. I agree with the complaints above re: pricing and often the store is not well stocked. I typically shop the Callaway one but am going there less & less. I really like Aldi, but of course you often can't find everything there so I round out the trip at Shoppers.

Unfortunately the Callaway Weiss retained the same employees working there from when it was Food Lion. I think the management must be very poor at this store. They just don't care at all. The store is messy, not well maintained, and many of the checkers are inattentive. I once watched a young family load the belt up with their cart full of groceries to see the clerk (leaning over her work station the entire time she "works") mumble down at them "Closed now" and she just walked away. No eye contact, no I'm sorry, NOTHING. I refuse to go to her aisle, she's awful, she looks half asleep and like the customers are bothering her. I find the teenage employees there to be the best which you wouldn't think would be the case.

I'll keep going to Aldi & bag my own stuff and/or Shoppers where the self checkout aisles work pretty well

Isn’t there some rule about this - that a store must honor pricing posted on a shelf, regardless of any date markings? If the sign is still up, you should be able to claim that price. I’ve had such things adjusted by store managers a couple times, in various stores.

At least in part, MD law reads:
§11–309.
(a) If any commodity or service is sold, offered, exposed, or advertised for sale by weight, measure, or count, the price may not be misrepresented or represented in any manner calculated or tending to mislead or deceive an actual or prospective purchaser.

I agree, weiss is awful and overpriced. Food lion was palatable. As I get older though I find that I hate going to the grocery stores and shopping in general or leaving my house for anything other than getting out on the water. I think I've been living in St.Mary's for too long.
