My third cell knows the difference between role and roll...
Can the Home Builders quote you on that
'None of them intentionally ..."
Now you have decided to give people the benefit of a doubt? Has your heart grown 3 sizes this day?:killingme

Lack of supervision during home building or car building is negligence.

Even you should know you get what you INSPECT not what you EXPECT,
which goes along with Trust but verify.

Don't even go there. We've covered it at least 100 times.

My contract said we had to buy regardless of what any inspection revealed once the permit was issued.

Thanks radiant - I once bought a warrranty when I was 18 - never again. I would rather sign a contract that forced me to accept substandard products/services without recourse.

Go buy a new car genius.

The contract states you will agree to "arbitration."

We have purchased any variety of new and used vehicles over the years probably 25 or 30 in all, proper use and maintenance go a long way.. My dealership concerns are with the personal integrity more than the product, No one can say which vehicle will run for 200k miles or 2 miles before something lets loose. Caveat Emptor. I want to know the PERSON is on the up and up and not malicious or clem like.

The chances are good that 90% of his cars are good cars, and those are happy customers.

To get a feel for the owner and dealership talk to the 10% whose cars weren't perfect, that didn't operate as they should have, and ask what kind of support and how helpful the dealership was in getting issues resolved.

EVERYBODY does a great job when things work like they are supposed to, it's how great they are when they don't that matters.

Or you could take a chance and just hope you are one of the 90%.

Most definately - was wondering if there were horror stories or other input (like glhs - not clem)

Can't say, I think I've read a few gripes. You buy a used vehicle you take chances. You don't know how the previous owner(s) treated it or maintained it, for one. Doesn't matter who you buy it from. A dealer would be my last choice though. Too much markup.

Son brought truck from him. Saw carfax when we bought it and no accidents..everything good. Son switched insurance company year later and they did carfax and it showed it had been in 2 accidents in the past. I don't know what carfax he showed us but it wasn't from the truck he brought. Don't do it.

No, run your own carfax check. Even that won't show everything. Just what has been reported.

They have plenty of mark up at any used car dealers. I have bought two cars there and have been happy with the cars and Hodges.

You can buy from a private and get dicked as bad as at any dealer. It's a roll of the dice buying used.

I buy only used vehicles. Lots of them over the years (I have something like 11 right now..so its not like they go anywhere after I buy 'em).

My kids went through high school with Audi Quattros..both of the cars started out at 150,000 miles. One died at about 220K because a large tree fell on it. The other has passed 300K and I gave it to a friend who likes Quattros..still running strong.

I had one of my old Broncos die on me once returning from a hunting trip because it dropped a valve...and another old truck I built threw a rod climbing Tennessee mountains towing a heavy trailer. That's about it for 'road failures' for me in the last 15 or 20 used vehicles and 30-plus years of driving them. I can live with that; I see newish vehicles on the side of the road all the time.

I'm quite happy to let others eat the major depreciation from new, while I take the rest.

My next one will be new unless I find a good deal on what I want. It will be the last one I buy, I think. I'll keep the old ones as they have served me well. Plus it's nice to have a spare or two.

Of course the missing part of this conversation is the question of how critical is a good running vehicle to your job?

And what will happen to you at said job if you fail to show up?

You don't miss missions in the military without serious consequences.

I'm guessing you are not actually responding to my post.

Sister bought a car there. Within a week the check engine light and airbag light came on. When she went back to ask them about it they said they couldnt fix it.
Just with any used car lot, its up to YOU to look over the car and make your decision.

Went there years back with my wife for a car - this was maybe in 1999 - and found one we liked. Got the speech, nice car,no problems, etc. I stressed we wanted something with no known mechanical problems, they told us the vehicle has been thoroughly serviced. Took it for a test drive and broke down in the middle of the road. IN FRONT OF THE F'ING EARLY BIRD. I pushed it into the parking lot, called the dealership to come get us. He then tells us that it didn't overheat,it shut it's own engine off as a safety mechanism. Lying jerks.
