"The Natural"????? Please. It was a love story disguised as a baseball movie trying to get guys to buy tickets on their own.

"Bad News Bears"(The original)..................okay. I'll drop MLII and slide Bears in at #5.

Nothing to see here
1. The Sandlot("You play like a girl")
2. League of Their Own("You know General Omar Bradley? Too close a resemblance")
3. Bull Durham("I want you to hit the mascot")
4. Field of Dreams("If you build it....etc)
5. Major League("I hate that &*^%ing song")
6. Major League III:Back to the Minors("Mind clear?)
7. Little Big League("His horse was named Friday")
8. For the Love of the Game
9. Mr Baseball
10. Major League II("You have no....no.....marbles! You have no marbles!!!!")

I agree with top five(Sandlot far and away my favorite), didn't care for any of the bottom 5. Think the Natural and Cobb should be up there..Think the first baseball movie I ever saw was called "It Happens Every Spring", made in the forties about a professor that made a substance that repelled wood..Rub a little on a baseball and a pitched ball will hop over a swung bat..Pretty hokey

...Durham's not a love story???

The Natural did a great job with the uniforms, the feel and look of the stadiums and I enjoyed the characters and the story. It's a baseball movie!

Yeah, but the baseball was more real and, to me, played a bigger part in the movie. And, I'm sorry, but the ending of "The Natural" was too over the top. I would have been okay with the home run, but the light towers exploding was just too much.

I don't know why, but I was able to suspend reality for that one more than I usually do. I think it was the "catch" with Dad that did it for me. Never had the opportunity to do that, and I made sure I've done it with my son. And he knows as much baseball history as I could teach him.

Good pick on For the Love of the Game :yay:

And I like just about most of them, though I definitely think The Natural should well come before Mr. Baseball.

I won't rehash my dislike for "The Natural". I picked "Mr Baseball" notbecause of Selleck, but because it showed a different angle to the game and the way the Japanese "idolize" American Players. Up to a point.
