Tractor Trailer goes off Bay Bridge - 3 car ....

*putting on accident investigators hat*

I've looked at the pictures and my conclusion is this....

There are tire marks from where the truck was in the lane and looks as though he locked up his brakes....the camaro has front end damage....that span of the bridge was 2-way traffic at the time

Negative - isn't that the eastbound span we are looking at? That one is 2 lanes, and both of them are always eastbound (as far as I know).

Otherwise, I agree. I'd put a lot of money on one of the car drivers causing the accident. Just like last year when some dummy lost the trailer off their pickup and caused a pile-up.

Would THIS face lie?

I thought I read somewhere that they were doing work on the west bound bridge and the east bound span had 2 lane traffic..May be wrong though..

If you look at the pictures, you can see the camaro was heading one direction and the tractor trailer the other... you can also see the tractor trailer first hit his brakes while directly in his lane. The damage on the camaro indicates it was the vehicle that crossed the center line. Now we are getting reports that there are witnesses that verify this info.

I stand corrected. I've never seen them do 2-way on the eastbound side, but I wasn't aware of the construction westbound (been a couple months since I've been to the eastern shore). I just figured that the cars had been spun around by the impact.

Whenever I go eastbound, I always make sure to get in the right-hand toll lanes, just because I don't like opposing traffic with no shoulders to escape to. I guess even that approach doesn't guarantee anything.

Well isn't that special...

A 19-year-old who says she fell asleep while driving on the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in a crash that killed a truck driver is expressing her remorse, WTOP has learned.

It's not clear whether Candy Baldwin of Millington, Md. will face charges in the crash that killed 57-year-old John Short Sr. of Willards, Md.

Baldwin's attorney, Steven Allen, says Baldwin feels "just awful" and is "devastated."

"If she could have that moment in time back, she would," Allen says. "Her prayers go out to the Short family. She feels very genuinely sympathetic for the family."

On her MySpace page, Baldwin described herself as looking for someone who could handle her drinking habits, and included photos of the underage woman apparently drinking and smiling for the camera holding a bottle of rum while behind the wheel of a car.

Allen is unwilling to discuss the specifics of Baldwin's MySpace page, which was taken down several days after the crash.
