Transportation from BWI to Calvert?

Does anyone know of a reasonable car service/shuttle that will bring someone from BWI to Calvert county? We're trying to surprise my Mom for her 60th birthday by flying in my brother from SC. Me leaving for 4 hrs to pick him up (and not taking her with me) on her birthday will definitely make her suspicious.

Hubby just found out that he can't leave work early as planned so now we need another way to get my brother here. I'm thinking this may be the best option. And google is not being my friend right now. :killingme Thanks!

It would probably be cheaper to rent a car for him to drive from airport to Calvert... Is that an option?

We were throwing that idea around too. It's an option but I'd rather pay for a car service if it's not insanely expensive. I love my brother dearly but his driving abilities are, shall we say, not the greatest. :killingme And it's a 1.5 hour drive in unfamiliar territory for him, although it's not too difficult to get here from there.

Have you considered using public transportation. I could be wrong but I think the MARC train goes from BWI to Union Station. From there METRO to Branch ave means maybe an hour away from the birthday girl. Also the latter time means maybe the hubby can do it. Also the MTA busses might be able to drop him off in Prince Fredrick.

That is of course if you don't want to just have your brother take Amtrack up from SC to Union station instead of flying.

"There is nothing like a train it's magic"...lol

Just a thought.

I owe you a "nice".

Depending on the schedule, I'll do it. What day and time is your brother's plane coming in?

Hmmmm, that's an idea worth looking into. I could even take my Mom to DC and tell her we're eating at a Union Station restaurant for her bday and have my brother walk in. Can't really get away with that driving into an airport, a little suspicious!

That's WAY too far outta your way but I really appreciate the offer. So sweet of you. You live far, far away from BWI. Besides, he comes in on a Friday night at 7:15. Hubby had it all worked out months ago. By the time he picked up my brother and got back here, he'd be getting home the same time he normally gets home from work. My Mom would have no clue. Unfortunately his gramps just passed so he has to take off Mon & Tues for the services and it's tough for him to take off too much time in his line of business.

How's the new house working out, you must absolutely love the extra space (well, cleaning the extra space isn't so fun!). I'm sure Bob is loving the mowing too, or were you able to get your neighbor to help? :buddies:

I'll still do it. I have ulterior motives, you see. I can spend all day up at Arundle Mills Mall, stop by the airport on the way home, and get to say it was all in the name of a Good Deed.

Really.

If you need someone to pick up your brother, I'll do it.

The new house is going great. We are still living out of many boxes, and getting ready to do a re-do of the kitchen, but we're really loving all of the extra space.

Smart Ride in Prince Frederick. They run shuttle service to the airport and other places.

Thanks for the info. I left a vm message early this morning requesting rates. May not need them this time after all but I'll keep their number for future reference.

Oh, I see how it is! :killingme I really do appreciate the offer. I think hubby may have worked something out with one of his guys so he can leave early on Friday but I'll know for sure tonight.

Are you guys completely re-doing the kitchen? Huge project! And the boxes will get unpacked when they need to be. At least that's how it works for me everytime I move.

SUPER SHUTTLE LAX SFO DEN PHX DFW TPA JFK BWI IAD SAN DCA SMF MCI IAH LGA MSP EWR AUS SNA HOU BUR DAL OAK BNA ONT LGB RDU SJC AZA ISP PTP PIE CDG ORY BVA Airports

I've used them before. They're not that expensive and they're reliable.

(Sorry the link looks funky... IDK why its like that)

Good luck! :howdy:

EDIT: Your bro wont be riding alone! They send a van and pick up a few people all going to the same general area. Just FYI... I dont know how he feels about riding in a van full of strangers

Hubby uses them to get home from business trips, since the company will pay for it. The last time he took them, the driver said rates were going up, but I didn't see that when I looked online. It is usually $70 one-way, but I have always found discount codes here (Super Shuttle Coupon Codes - all coupons, discounts and promo codes for supershuttle.com) to take at least $5 off. It is also nice to be able to pay for it and add any tip online. That way he doesn't have to worry about it after a long trip.
