Trick or Treating

Where does everyone go to trick or treat? Also does anyone know if any of the churches are doing anything this year. Or the stores?

I only take the kids to trick or treat at their family members' houses. Luckily most of my family lives on the same road.

I take my kids to Leonardtown Baptist Church. They do a fall festival. They have games and usually a small hayride. The kids get tons of candy, probably more than they would get going to a neighborhood, and have fun. They ask that the kids dress up in wholesome costumes - no blood and guts and monster type things. I know up in Mechanicsville a church does a parking lot festival where kids go around to cars and play games. Not sure where that is.

I remember when I was little that's what my mom did. Only I did not know that most of the people were family. One lady invited me and my cousin in and she wanted to go in and I wouldnt until my mom came up and told me it was ok because we were related to her.

It's just easier for me and it's a bonus fpr my family. We take pics at each house.

If they are all on the same road as you I figure it would be easier. I am looking for something to do with them so that they can get some candy, but not so sure with how cold it is getting that I want them to be out long. So I figured if I could find a place to take them to that a lot of houses are close together so that we dont have to walk a long way and they can get some quick and then come back home. Or something like that. I know when I was young my mom would take me to Wildwood because all of the stores would have someone outside handing out candy, do they still do that?

I'm mean and don't give my kids much candy so Halloween is mainly about dressing up to them. I can get away with it now because they are still so young.

Really mine don't get much either. A couple years ago we put it in a bowl with a lid and put it up. Forgot about it and found it about a year later. A lot probably goes to waste that's why I said just go out and get a little then come home.

My daughter will do the traditional house to house candy begging - same as I did growing up. We normally take her in my neighborhood - which is a townhouse neighborhood - but since I'm bedridden my sister will take her to her neighborhood. I'm sad I have to miss walking around with her!

I remember around this time last year a lot of people were getting on talking about what the church they go to was doing and no one has posted anything this time.

I hand out candy to the goblins and the kids just hit our street. We get the little ones before it gets too dark but most are out from dusk to about 8 or whenever everyone turns off their lights. I expect it to go a little later this year, being on a Friday, but once I'm out of candy its lights out.

The one year I was in college and had an exam the next day, so I turned off all of my lights and kids STILL knocked all night.

Then, last year, with all the lights on and decorations, hardly any kids came :ohwell:

6 or so is customary. People are still eating at 5 and it's still light out.

Yea I usually wait until it is dark out. I hate going out before that. But I have seen some out where my sister lives as soon as 5 or 5:30 I am thinking.
