Trouble at Linda's Cafe (witnessed)

Here in jolly ole' Leonardtown we had a little action happen.

My son and I were sitting there enjoying a dinner and a movie there at Linda's Cafe. Well the trouble started when a man and a woman was there and talking to the staff. This man (never seen before in my life) went into the cove there where you enter the establishment and then there was the action with the employees. They were grabbing phones left and right to get in contact with Linda's Cafe's Attorney and someone that can represent Linda while she was away from the area. Then, a bit later on, there was more action and employee's whispering in each others ears and all. Yea, I was curious over the events however, it was none of my business right? WRONG!!!! Linda's Cafe is this counties business. Well as a firm supporter of Linda's Cafe I was shocked and mortified with what I was told. One of the employee's told me that the owner of the building (nameless because I don't know) was changing the locks on the doors there and that Linda's Cafe was being shut down for good. AT THAT MOMENT!!!! These individuals that was doing this was telling customers that they could not come in that they could not eat there and that they had to go elsewhere. Now the only thing that I can imagine is the horror that the employees were feeling at the notion that their jobs were on the line. Now this all stems from what is being reported to me is that the owner stated that "Linda was not paying the rent" now, anyone that knows Linda and her reputation knows this to be not true. This is also reported to me "That this person has been trying to shut Linda's Cafe down ever since it opened her doors." So, the truth is, that this owner waited till Linda was out of the area to do a slight of hand trick to do what it took to let Linda have it. I just hope that there is some miss communication here and that Linda's Cafe will still be opening tomorrow morning. And further more I hope that all of us that knows the Cafe and Linda personally show her/them our support completely. And if there is a legal ramification to this then, I hope that Linda wins and wins big. Big enough to buy the building out from the current owners hands. This all is not right. I was mortified. Like my personal life is not dramatic enough lets toss in some town drama in the mix too. I am going to go down there and find out if in fact they opened their doors and if not I am going to be making sure that everyone in the So. Maryland area is clearly informed of what is happening. I feel for Linda at this point. When I heard that Linda's Cafe was coming to Leonardtown I was going around with a bib already to go. I even checked on its progress pretty much daily. Come on So Maryland lets show her some love and appreciation for all the wonderful homestyle cooked meals that she and her staff served. Get the papers involved, get anyone involved. :bawl:

Oh and yea, I almost forgot something. The cops were involved. That is when my son and I left. However, if they need information from me then they know how to reach me.

That is it for me.

Comments? Input? What is on YOUR mind So Maryland?

I work in Leonardtown. I go out to lunch maybe once every month or so. When I do, I go there because I can get breakfast at lunch. Food is great. Hope they don't shut her down.

It is a shame this is all happening, she is not even here to defend it. I love the southern style cooking. This is an outcry. BTW, I may have passed you a time or two.

What a shame. I cannot believe they can do this without a court order????

If they had a court order then why was Linda not notified?

Who is the owner?

Check out this link to the Maryland Court Systems. You will see Linda owes over $16,000 to the owner. I suspect that is why she was evicted. You will see she had been notified according to the court records.

No problem. I am sure the employees were in a state of shock. Now you may have an idea why Linda was out of town today.

Watch it
First time I went there, I really enjoyed the food. The second time, we ordered our food, they came back and said "sorry we are out of that". We reordered..came back again and said the same thing. Reordered AGAIN and they came back AGAIN and said they were out. :lmao: After the third time, we left and went to the mexican place next door. LOL.

Wow! We usually go there at least one day for breakfast on the weekend. Were there yesterday morning. Anyone know if they were open today? Any other word on whether someone new will be opening up if Linda doesn't get things straight? It would really be a shame to lose such a convenient eating place.
