I have to agree that Cruz insulted a lot of New Yorkers. While Trump talked about 911 and jerked at our heartstrings, this completely glazed over Cruz's point... Trump is a liberal. I don't think New York has anything to do with it. And Trump won huge points because Cruz decided to make it about New York rather than Trump. A person isn't who they are politically because of where they live, they are who they are because they chose that. Shame on Cruz!

Is this the apogee of the nuevo-Republican movement?

LOL.

The entire debate was absolutely devoid of anything fit for consumption by educated humans (i.e., not the Repugnican base). But you people keep voting for it, so expect more.

Good luck.

What's a Repugnican? Are you spelling-impaired, or trying to make a point through petty insulting terms?

Until you vote, while you have the Constitutional right to offer opinions, you don't have the moral one. Saying you'll vote in the future gives you no voice about the past.

The Donald made a great point, but Ted Cruz was not wrong about New York's politics.
The State that made Hillary a Senator. Look at New York's latest Mayors., their Governor.
Take a peek at Charlie Rangel.
WTH New Yorkers weren't going to vote for Cruz anyway, what did he lose.

He's absolutely right about the GOP... they have become repugnant in their approach to meeting conservative’s expectations and solving problems.

He’s not qualified – Okay, but what about the issues
He’s a New Yorker – Okay, but given the last budget deal, how do you convince republicans you are the least bit interested in getting spending and the debt under control?

The GOP has become the party of drivel. I’ve been voting since Reagan first term. This is the worst I’ve ever felt about voting.

Why are we doing this? Trump is not a conservative. Why can't that just stand on its own merits, rather than making his philosophy about the state/city he came from? I'm sure you are completely aware that plenty of conservatives exist in NY? I live in MD, one of the bluest states in the union, and I am a conservative.

This is the dumbest lowest form of provincialism. "New Yorkers lololol" the state is massive and consist of more then New York City.

Also? Teddy Roosevelt came from New York City. Manhattan. Although I guess today Teddy Roosevelt would be seen as a dirty socialist.

Also, instead of focusing on how New York might be different then Maryland, or how Annapolis might be different then Lexington Park, how about a focus on the commonalities of being Americans. The more the left and right divide over stupid crap the less it divides over stuff that actually matters.

And people wonder why conservatives like me have completely abandoned the "conservative" party.

I am certainly not in a position to disagree.

- Kasich worked with (not against) Gingrich on balancing the budget - that was a good thing, and I would hope if he were to get our nod he would return to that. Most Americans want it, all Americans need it, and it's the conservative thing to be talking about. This generational theft is horrific. It's one thing if you can pay it off in a truly short period of time and you have to borrow (deficit spend) to meet a true emergency, it is repulsive when it is for entitling ourselves today at the expense of our grandkids.
- Ryan has said the whole health-insurance thing should be resolved by the end of this year. I renew my question I offered before the ACA that was never answered which is, what is the problem and why are we "solving" the problem without addressing the actual problem? People are foolishly now convinced that there is a problem to solve, so solve it, don't pretend you're solving it on your way to something else.
- "They'd feel the full weight and fury of the United States" is not a diplomatic, statesmanlike, or even militarily-sound phrase over a 24-hour detention and humiliation of Sailors. Ted Cruz sounded like an idiot within the first minute of the debate last night, and I turned it off (some of us had to get up for work this morning ). We need actual answers, and sadly most real answers are very nuanced and don't fit into the 75-second soundbite timeframe given in the current debate structure.

I could go on, but we agree.

TR was a Progressive, he was not Conservative. The Parties have changed over the years. The Dems used to have Conservatives like the late Scoop Jackson. JFK was Conservative by current Dem standards. The Civil Rights acts were passed by Republican Senators, the Dems voted against them, like Al Gore Sr, Strom Thrumann.

These guys are childs play to Trump. Trump IS a New Yorker and NO ONE knows how to insult like New Yorkers do AND no one knows how to kiss and make up and play ball like New Yorkers.

Trump can insult Mexicans. And win them over.

He can insult women. And win them over.

He can insult blacks, Jews, Puerto Rican's, Eastern Europeans, Western Europeans, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Arabs, Iranians, Australians, Brazilians, Chileans, you name it.

And win them over.

Why? Art of the freaking deal.

The real terror here for BOTH parites is the simply fact that both D's and R's do NOT deal in real things. They deal in bull####; "I'm pro life!" "I'm pro choice!" "I'm pro immigrant!" "I'm pro control the borders!" "I'm pro security!" "I am too!" "I'm for health care!" "I'm for cutting costs!" "I'm pro union!" "I'm pro business!!!" and it is an endless pile of meaningless horse#### designed to get us to buy Ford over Chevy or McDonalds over Burger King and the end results are, as a practicle matter, indistinguishable. They are trying to tell you YOU win with them because that Ford pickup is SOOOO much better than the Chevy pick up. It's got electrolytes!

Trump is saying "I win." He;'s saying forget all the noise, all the dog and pony. He is saying "I am a winner and you don't need to sweat the Ford/Chevy or Brand A/B. YOU will win because I WILL win be what it may."

He MUST be defeated by both parties OR their charade ENDS. The R vs. D horse#### we're so hooked on goes away when the PERSON matters and the party doesn't.

No one gives a flying #### if Donald Trump is pro choice IF we're gonna kick China's ass.

No one givers a flying #### if Donald Trump is pro business IF we're gonna have health care that works for everyone.

No one is going to give a flying #### war, no war, IF we ####ing WIN the gaht damn thing.

Bush? Loser. Obama? Loser. Rubio, Cruz, Bush III, Hillary, Christie, loser, loser, loser, losers. All of them. Why? Because they're selling the Ford/Chevy crap and, when you need a ####ing pickup truck, BAD, no one gives a flying #### who made it if the damn thing WORKS and gets the job done.

So, still, what does Trump see as winning? If he ####s the rich on taxes AND tells the poor to get as ####ing job, where does that leave Ford and Chevy? If he ####s illegal immigrants AND supports the #### out of legal ones? What do the burger joints do? Add a toy? If he ####s China and ####s them again to OUR benefit what do the brand names do? Hold a fire sale? If he obliterates a #### ton of ISIS Muslims, levels Raqqa and Aleppo and we LEAVE, what do the parties do?

Bernie is the only guy remotely in this race and he will be so outclassed it won't even be funny.

So, forget the dog and pony show and start focusing on what President Trump is actually going to do. When he wins. OR, they find a way to do the impossible; turn us off to a guy who pokes them all in their smug faces. And makes it stick.

TR was also a cool dude though. My greater point was that this sort of thing is super silly because, for example, Reagan would probably be considered to left by the GOP as it is.

Not one bit of your diatribe convinces me that Trump is serious. He’s been empty on saying what he’s going to do. Sure, he said he’s going to build a big beautiful wall, but how? He said he’s going to keep all Muslims out, but how? Everything he wants to do he has to work through congress, and has yet to state how he’s going to get this congress to work with him; because they won’t. Or, is he going to go the Obama route and go it alone? That makes me feel real comfortable.

Trump IS a dog and pony show. Nothing but rhetorical nonsense. If this is the best we can do, I’m out!
