So yesterday I was on my way home and needed to merge into a lane. I hit the gas fairly heavy but didn't put it to the floor by any means. The car hesitated big time between 1st and 2nd and a little between 2nd and 3rd though not nearly as bad as 1st and 2nd. So when I had the opportunity from a stop at a red light to do it again to see if it would repeat or if it was an isolated occurance, it did the same thing. This morning I drove normally and it didn't hesitate at all between gears. About 3/4 to work and stoped at a red light, try it agin. Same deal as yesterday.

I have an e-shift (automatic that can be put into manual allowing you to shift gears yourself) and I usually drive in auto. I have not yet tried to test it in manual. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity on the way home.

I just had the trans flushed and filled, everything lubed up, etc. I however did not get a tune-up because it was running great (this was probably 3-4 thousand miles ago). The car has 120k miles on it. I'm thinking it's more then likely just in need of a tune-up??? Could it be anything else?

It's possible I missed something but this is a tough one without more information on the car. Carbed engines could have one reason while different types of fuel injected vehicles could have other causes. Also make and model as different carmakers have a different history that could lend clues. I notice someone else made a mention of transmission but that is relativly easy to rule out. If the engine stumbles a bit (or gets quiet)when the car hesitates then its likely a fuel and remotley possible ignition problem. If the engine revs up when it hesitates then it is a transmission problem.
If it hesitates and then takes off full throttle it is not likely to be a fuel filter. Plugged filters will typically run for a while at low throttle positions but as you mash your foot down they will slowly not be able to give enough fuel and the engine will lean out and start to stumble and not recover unless you pull your foot back and go partial throttle again.
Some newer fuel injected vehicles that require a certain fuel pressure to operate may behave differently depending on where the filter is in relation to some other sensors etc.
Either way the dealer for the vehicle SHOULD be able to tell you where it is. I say "should" because some are completly incompetent on their own vehicles.

It's a 2001 Lexus IS 300. E-shift (auto that you can put into manual), In-line 6 cy engine. I think I got scared and backed off when it hesitated. I'll have to experiment more on my way home.

they are tires we took off a truck or car change overs, they're not free just cheaper priced

I don't think I want those. I plan on keeping this car until it falls apart. Or I find a sugar Daddy to upgrade me. :lmao:
