My friend who is savvy on this (I am not) says that taxes should be a $100 experience to receive refund or owe. If you get a higher refund, you're not getting the money per month you should to use as you wish during the year and should up your dependents claimed. If you owe more than $100 you have the too many dependents claimed.
BG was within a $1 or two for her refund..

They posted the problem as being under investigation
"Form 502: Other additions to code 1..." error when attempting to e-file Maryland return

This error message occurs when attempting to e-file your Maryland return. The full message reads:

You Must Fix This Error
Form 502: Other additions code 1, Other Additions Code Box 1, must be code A through O, or DM, to qualify for electronic filing.

However, the Other Additions Code 1 field on the screen shows a code O and the field won't allow input. This issue prevents you from e-filing your Maryland tax return.

This issue, which was first reported to us on the evening of Friday, February 2, is currently under investigation. If you would like to be notified via e-mail as soon as we have developed a fix or workaround, please click here to sign up.

I've used Pro Series, Tax Cut, Turbo Tax in the past and this is the 1st time I've ever actually found an issue with the software.

BTW, I was the 1st user to report the problem. Aren't I special. :jameo:

This was either my 4th or 5th year using Turbo Tax, and this was also my first issue. It was frustrating, I tried every way to Sunday to change that damn code, and a few times it looked like it took it.. to only say "Errors on your Maryland Return" when it came time to E-File..

But look at it from a different angle, you only need PMI for 12 months. You can then choose to do away with that extra cost per month.

I'd rather not have PMI at all but I had no choice when closing on my loan. Or so I thought. I've done a lot of reading on this since and there are ways around having to pay PMI (80/20 loans, etc.) so refinancing is in my future.

I think it depends.. if you're going to take the extra $100 or $200 a month a spend it on Happy meals, you're better off letting the government "Save" it for you... then you go out and have a nice meal, or even buy a cruise or vacation.. If you plan on saving it, and have the determination to do it, by all means, get your deductions right, and get in the bank as soon as possible..

But I think most people this is there big savings for the year, much like a Christmas account, where they can plan their one or two big purchases every year. If not for the IRS they would never save 2, 3 or $4000, they'd just spend it as soon as they got it.
