I does seem like a thankless job though. During my last trip to San Diego, I was walking down to Pacific Beach on a Sunday morning around 11am. I stopped into a Better Buzz to get an Iced Coffee. I greeted the barista with a "Good morning" and placed my order for a small. When she rang my order up I noticed she handed me a large and still charged me for the small, so I mentioned it to her. She said that since she had started her shift that morning, I was the first person that greeted her instead of just barking my order at her. I thanked her and told her I wasn't from around there.

Gotta make deposits to that Karma bank as often as possible.
This is my Mom and Dads coffee spot, I think my mom's thinking she could have worked here 60 years ago.

I was at a manhole at Delaware Ave and I St SW in Washington D.C. I heard a burst of gunfire, about 5 shots. Then another, about 4 shots. A late 70's Ford LTD came around the corner at 3rd and I St and stopped at the alley a half block away. Two youfs ran out of the alley with guns, jumped in the LTD, and it came straight at me. I laid in the gutter as tight to the curb as possible. When they went by I heard one of them yell but they didn't shoot.

A minute later I heard the sirens and walked down in time to see a kid named Andre take his last breath. I read about it the next day in the Washington Times. Gang hit between the Simple City Crew and Greenway Crew. When the cops came, everyone came out like it was a block party. When the cops left, everyone went back inside. I went back to my manhole.
