U.S. pastor sentenced to jail for bringing ammunition to Russia

"MOSCOW: A Moscow court sentenced an American pastor to more than three years in prison Monday for illegally taking a box of hunting ammunition into Russia.

The pastor, Phillip Miles, an evangelist from the Christ Community Church in Conway, South Carolina, had been held in prison since his arrest Feb. 3.

He was charged with failing to declare a $25 box of hunting rounds. He said he intended to give the bullets to a fellow pastor and hunting enthusiast in Perm, a city in the Ural Mountains region in Russia's center, where he was involved in missionary work."

A couple months back a poster on my favorite gun board started a thread about how his uncle had been jailed in Russia over this. He pleaded for any help he could conjur up, and gave weekly if not daily updates. I see now it has hit the MSM.

I can only say when in Russia follow their communist laws.

Sounds like amature arms smuggling to me.

Dofus shoulda mailed it. Mix them in with a bunch of metal rods or something to hide them.

I think in DC you can go to jail for the same thing, just carrying rounds.
