"BAGHDAD: U.S. warplanes dropped 40,000 pounds of bombs on Thursday in a sudden and massive strike on more than 40 al Qaeda targets clustered in date palm groves on Baghdad's southern outskirts, the military said.

The U.S. Air Force sent two B-1 bombers and four F-16 fighter jets, aiming at three large target areas in Arab Jabour, a lush area just south of the capital that has become a haven for fighters driven out of other areas.

The attack formed part of Operation Phantom Phoenix, a countrywide offensive against al Qaeda guerrillas that U.S. forces announced this week."

So a large area with men, women and children are just bombed into American execution without any trial or jury and no due process of law at all.

And it says this is a retaliation strike because of the 6 American soldiers being killed.

So now it is innocent blood covering the caskets of American soldiers.

They did not F'ing CARPET BOMB a residential area according to the report - 3 large areas were tageted!

Now - if civilian casulties happened, so be it... if they are harboring so what? If they know they are there and do not report them - well, they got what they deserve.

I like it when they bomb these terrorist murdering bastids.

A couple of reasons. It doesnt endanger American servicemen near as much as a foot patrol.
If a foot patrol somehow shoots an innocent they face jail time. If a bomb takes one out its merely incidental to the action.
If a home is being used by terrorist and a foot patrol cleans it out, the terrorists merely move back in. It isnt easy to move back into a house hit by a 500 pounder.
