Uber and Lyft

Has anyone had any problems using either one of these locally? My car is down. I took Lyft to the shopping center and got stranded there. Tried both companies to get home and neither had drivers available. Of course, not a soul I called answered their phone. Now I'm hesitant to try them again.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I have never used them. From what I have heard they are great showing up at the bars.

Maybe it was just bad timing. It was early evening. The mask mandate has just been lifted. Maybe they just super busy at that time taking people to the bars. I hope so.

How did you get home? Be careful using the “rides“. My daughter had a bad experience with Uber a couple years ago. I know you needed to have a ride because of your car problem. But, we have seen bad incidents involving these “ride” people. Do you not have someone that can run errands for you while your car is being fixed? Stay safe.

Friend of mine was an Uber driver for a few years locally. She quit and said others have too. Don’t recall if she said why.

My step brother in Rochester, NY drives for Uber. He could write a book with some of the people and conversations he has encountered. He refuses to go into certain 'hoods and rarely drives at night. Though he makes good money doing it, I do worry about some of the whack a doos he deals with.

I just checked the site for curiosity sake, no drivers available. Unbelievable. My son said because we're in a rural area is why it's like this.

I can imagine. Just like the crazies a cab driver meets.

I'd bet it's because they don't make enough money for the distance they have to drive. My driver had to come to Leonardtown from California for a 1.8 mile ride for me. It's probably not worth it.

I luckily saw someone I know and she gave me a ride home. I have no one to run errands for me. The one who offered has stopped answering their phone when I call. My son lives an hour away. Plus him and my daughter are at work most of the time. STS is out of the question for some places. I can't walk the distance from where it would let me off. This car situation needs to be resolved! Maybe I can start nagging my neighbors the way they nag me :lmao:

I appreciate that. Family only seems to come thru when THEY need something. Hoping this situation doesn't last long.

Thank you! I appreciate your offer! I checked both the sites yesterday evening (early, around 7:00) out of curiousity and it was the same thing. Uber had no driver available and Lyft had "very few, you might not get a ride". I hoping people (not knowing the issue) don't rely on this thinking they can get home from a bar late at night.
