Uncontrolled children in restaurants

When I worked at Bambino's, there were these two ladies who used to come in on AYCE pizza night with about a zillion kids. These brats used to run around, scream, pester other diners, trip the waitresses - and these women would just sit there and not do a thing. We asked them repeatedly to control their children, to no avail.

Finally Terry, the owner, went over to their table, grabbed their plates, dumped them in the trash and told these women to get the hell out. They got all indignant and started threatening him with lawuits and such, but he didn't budge. Told them to get out or he was calling the cops and having them arrested for trespassing.

The whole restaurant erupted in applause  and Terry has been my restaurant-owner hero ever since. The standard to which ALL restaurant owners are compared :yay:

If customers or their children are disruptive, the manager should toss them out. End of story.
Terry didn't put up with any crap. Still doesn't to this day. I've seen him run kids out of the store where he works now. :yay:

I think it should be mandatory for all parents to attend 2 parenting classes per year.

Prep...I feel for ya! :huggy:

However, I have found that as I continue to get older, I tend to open my mouth more often. If it is a kid bugging me, the parent (s) WILL know about it.

I once said...in a grocery store..."it's because of kids like that, that God created birth control pills."
Yes, I got really bad looks , but I do not care. If the kid has the right to act out his bratty behavior, then I have the right to comment on it.

And you know what....deep down inside me somewhere, I enjoy telling parents that they need parenting classes. I love the looks I get.

I'll never forget this one time, I was shopping with my mom. There was this woman was browsing through the clothing racks at Hechts; her kid, who looked to be 5 years old, was all over the place. She just kept saying, "Boy, you wait till I get you in the car." She said it probably 4 times. The last time she said it, my mom looked over to her and said "Why wait till you get in the car, do it now! And I'll dare anyone to say anything to you!" I thought I was going to fall in the floor. :lmao:

Exactly. Kids are just kids - it's not their fault. They'll act however the parents teach them to act.
... and I'm none to fond of the phrase "oh.... boys will be boys...:giggle:" :boo:

Yesterday for lunch I went to Arizona pizza for what I had hoped was a relaxing lunch. Well there was this woman that sat in the lobby holding a baby and with a boy that appeared to be around 4yrs old. Now picture this scenario; boy could not sit still and kept running around through out the restaurant, after Mom would shout very loudly for him to come back. Meanwhile this kid is making noises that sound like a cross inbetween and monkey and bird constantly. I actually witnessed him run into a server who was carrying a tray full of drinks. She almost fell and I imagine if she would have spilled a hot drink on the kid, the restaurant would have been sued. The mom acted almost as bad as the kid, rude and loud. Even after they were seated that little brat would not sit down and mom really didn't make him. All she did was yell at the kid and the servers!
My dog would have more social graces in a public place than they did. I made a comment to my server about them and she said they have really upset the staff, I really felt sorry for the server that had to wait on them. Ok
I am done venting now!

they should sell children's chewable sominex

Yaaaarghhhhhh! You watched Oprah yesterday didn't you? :smack:

I have to disagree. Especially when it comes to boys. I've had a few instances when my son was younger where he'd throw an almighty tantrum somewhere. I did NOT teach him that. I did however get him by the back of the hair (you know right down near the nape of your neck where it hurts really bad) and walk him out of the store on his tippy toes and away from the general population.

Well, sure, boys will do stupid things, but it's up to parents to correct it instead of just ignoring it "because boys will be boys."

If my son wouldn't behave in a restaurant, we would pay our bill, leave a good tip, and leave the restaurant-whether or not we had had our food. If I went to the grocery store, I would let him pick a cereal or a snack, etc, usually at the beginning of shopping. That way, if he misbehaved, I would leave, and he would not go home with the desired item. I can't stand it when people allow their kids to disrupt others in public....

We took our son to restaurants even when he was a baby. He would, usually sleep or gurgle. As he got older, we would tell him before we went to a restaurant that he couldn't get up and run around, even if he saw other kids doing it. We never had a problem with him. Children test to see what they can get away with and obviously this woman just didn't give a crap about what they were doing. Too bad there weren't some kids in their behaving well, you could have loudly said "oh my, what well behaved children you are".

In my kingdom you will be paid a $10 bounty for smacking parents who sit there oblivious, ignoring their kids while they run around being asses.

The grocery store thing brings to mind this...why do parents, ie. both mom and dad load up the 4 dirty little screaming hellions in the hoopty and bring them to the food lion. Why dont one of you stay home with the kids and the other do the shopping. And I vote for a non-kid section in restaurants just like smoking.
