Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me asap ... we had our well pump replaced just over a year ago so obviously the warranty expired!!!

Can anyone PLEASE recommend a good plumber/well expert that can come out soon and not charge thousands???

We have a 4 week old baby in the house so desperately need to keep water in the taps.

Thanks for your help!!!

Would THIS face lie?
If it is a submersible pump in the well, you will need a well driller to come and look at it....Depending on the age of the well, they might want to drill you a new well...How do you know it is the pump and not the well....Not trying to scare you but just trying to help...Good luck

Over here in St. Mary's we have Watson & Johnson, Patuxent, Schofield, & Winslow....

I wouldn't trust any of those guys. They will all rip you off. I would go with Calvert. At least they are honest.

Well pump should last much longer than a year, and would assume a 5 or 10 year warranty on one, not just 12 months. I'd double check on the warranty for whatever pump it is you bought last year.

Hope its just the pump. Don't mean to scare you but if your in Northern St. Mary's it could be your out of water.
We have had 9 wells go dry in my subdivision of about 65 homes since February.
Patuxent Pump and Well just keeps moving around the block with their equipment.
Patuxent seems to be the favorite in our hood, they also were the one's that put most of the wells in 30 years ago, but Watson's and Johnson's and Winslow have been doing work also.

Winslow is the best.... I worked for them and they are top notch when it comes to their wells... It takes a while to get on the schedule some times... and then it takes a while to get the old well capped sometimes... but the quality of the pump and the quality of the service can't be beat...

by the way... drilling a well is messy business... be prepared for mud and more mud.... it's the nature of the beast....

My father was a well driller for years and was always going to fix things that Winslow had done. I wouldn't use them.

Funny... there are that many well drillers in the area... who's your dad?

Personally I would have recommended Winslow’s also, I requested them to put in the well at my new house, and I have had nothing but problems with it, now they tell me its two years old and nothing they can do for me. Its my problem, the problem I have is they haven’t done anything or even been to the house since the day they finished the well.

His company was J J Payne & Sons. When he drilled and installed the well and pumps they were guaranteed for a lot longer than 2 years. More like 15 or 20. I don't remember the exact number. It's been quite a few years now.

15-20 months is closer to what manufacturers warrant their pumps.

Which brings up another bit of information everyone should know before putting in a water well.... make sure that your well is installed by a licensed driller... check out the license with the Health department and the BBB....

There are some people who are claiming to be licensed and they really aren't...

I can personally vouch for J. J. Payne & Sons workmanship and quality.
My parents built their home in Valley Lee in 1973. And, when my
Mom sold that home in 1993, she never mentioned any problems or
experienced issues with the well pump or from both pressure tanks
and associated plumbing. I think that firm was located in St. Mary's
County 7th district near Chaptico. Does that firm still exist?
