THAT is something I hadn't thought of. I guess I'd do that when I go get my new driver's license?

Moving within the state? Upon successful completion of change of address transaction you will receive a Change of Address attachment card along with a MD voter registration application (VRA). You can use this VRA to apply to register to vote or change your voter registration information. The MVA cannot make voter registration changes for you. Maryland law requires that a VRA, change of address form or other document pertaining to voter registration be submitted to your local board of elections office for processing. You then will receive a voter notification card from your local board of elections reflecting this new information.

:yay: And the good thing is you don't even have to visit an MVA office.

I am NOT doing that. :twitch:

#1, I don't have a truck.
#2, I'm not putting bags of trash in my car.

I'd rather pay some happy little entrepeneur to come get it for me.

Pm Dougster. He might be able to hook you up :eyebrow:

Is there no trash service? You don't have someone that collects for the whole street on a certain day? Is this everywhere or just in certain places?

I think you can pay for trash service no matter where you live.

If you are in the CCNP hazard area don't forget to git your radiation pills.

Everyone within a 50 mile radius is in the "plume" CCNPP zone. Don't worry cuz I'm protecting you all from radiological sabotage and I have lots of ammo and weapons at work :boxing:

Vrai, you can hook up with Waste Management, but it's expensive, I think. You can get a sticker and take it for "free" to the transfer station. It's not really free. They are sticking St. Mary's County homeowners with a $60/year fee now, but it's cheaper than whatever Waste Management charges per month.

I don't think I have ever heard of that. So is the dump close? Is this how it is for everyone in St Mary's or if you pay an HOA is that sometimes included? Is the dump close by?

When I moved to Houston last year I was surprised because we get 2 pickups a week. Cost is about $7 a month.

my trash pick-up is not included in my hoa; waste mgt. pick-up cost a little over $100 every quarter; there is a set-up cost when you initially set-up your account

There are five "convenience centers" set up throughout the County. You need to show proof of residency within the County (i.e., license, rental agreement, something) to get a sticker. Then you take your trash and recycling there. The County does not pick up trash, but there are private companies that do and a citizen can contract with those companies for trash pick-up. There is also a landfill for bigger items.

What else do I need to get set up? I already have arranged for:

SMECO
Burch Oil
Cable TV and internet
Phone

Can anyone think of something I'm missing?

Do you have anything in the house that runs on propane?

I just bought a townhouse too. I called MetCom and they said to fax them a copy of my closing documents and they would transfer the service into my name. With SMECO, I just went online @ smeco.com and filled out the transfer service paperwork- it was relatively easy. I called Metrocast and set up installation service for expanded basic and internet, which they're having a special for the two... :howdy:

Damn it would be cheaper to get a jalopy truck and take it myself.
